Today, I did THIS for me (Your Answers Requested)

I had a rare (unpaid) afternoon off on a sunny day. I went to a local garden center and indulged in beauty and even brought some home with me. Heliotrope is now making my garage smell nice. It will go in the garden tomorrow.

My writing assignment ended, and I took an internal job with the agency. It sucked my soul dry and the very long hours and high stress prevented me from doing the things I love and that make me human. So I gave my 2 weeks notice (Friday the 13th was my last day) and am currently working as a floater out of one of the branch offices while I look for a new job or assignment.

Nice to be seen!!

Nice to be thought of! Course, when that’s your claim to fame . . .:smack:

And all the rest of you - love the sharing! They all made me smile like this - but cheesier

Yesterday was a bad, bad day – started with a two-hour meeting during which my boss told his boss that I was going to go from 6-8 posts/stories a week to 10-12, and also included a lunch with my sister during which we discussed the fact that my brother, who I do not get along with, is about to move two blocks away and is looking forward to hanging out with me – so I sat down with my knitting and actually watched Glee, instead of having in on while I was on the computer. Very relaxing.

Like!

Thank you for that.

And yay, melody! I missed you.

I haven’t done anything for myself yet today unless you count eating a glazed doughnut and posting when I should be working.

I placed a bid on a 10mm pistol that is up for auction. I’ve wanted one for 20 years. I promised myself that I won’t bid any higher, but I gave myself this chance to finally have one.

Hi, Melody! I missed you too.

I asked for Friday off. I was originally going to take only Monday but I am exhausted and beat and I am soooooo looking forward to waking up on Friday morning just so I can look at the clock and gleefully go back to sleep.

I woke up about 7 this morning, looked at my little Papillon Bunny laying asleep on my pillow, on her back with her tongue sticking out… Decided I REALLY didn’t need to get up that early, and went back to sleep rubbing Bunny’s tummy.

I helped a friend move, then bought some 90% off stale Peeps.

I walked home during my lunch break and gawked at the electric-blue sky. In my sunny apartment, I dunked graham crackers in whole milk while reading Anthony Trollope’s The Way We Live Now.

Ooh, shiny!

They’re probably better that way - chewier.

I went for a nice walk to the library to return my books (good for me - fresh air, sunshine, and exercise). I stopped on the way back and bought lunch and dinner (a tuna sandwich and a frozen chicken phyllo thing). This afternoon I’m going to go dig in my yard - also fresh air, sunshine, and exercise, plus, when I’m done, more homegrown vegetables.

Today, nothing.

But I am thinking tomorrow might be a good time to go to my favorite sub shop
for a steak and cheese with an egg roll on the side.

Been skrimping all year, that means not eating out much; so far have spent only
$86.28 on food not prepared at home. Hell, I might get an extra sub to go tomorrow.

I stayed home sick from work. I am at what I hope is the very tail end of a 3 week mega-cold-combined-with-hideous-spring allergies, and I felt like staying home napping and hydrating would be the thing that pushes me over the edge into fully well. So I did it.

I rode with a friend 2.5 hours away for a 10 minute task and 2.5 hours back. I really needed to get out of the house. My Doctor Who marathon kept me away from sunlight and showering longer than I care to admit…

We stopped for sushi on the way back.

I just really needed some adult conversation and an afternoon away from the house and family!

We badly need rain here; it’s been a record dry spring. The news has been all about worried farmers, rising food prices and water shortages in the summer. My vegetables were starting to look really thirsty, so as soon as I got home I threw on garden clothes and got out there with the watering can. I’d watered the first few pots when it started to rain. I laughed.

Then later, we harvested the first of the chard. It was delicious. I love growing things.

Nothing too exciting.

Had a picnic in the park w/ my wife on one of those truly glorious days of perfect temperatures, sky, cirris clouds, critters, & greenery.

And had a healthy afternoon snack instead of the unhealthy ones which have been my habit for too long.

Wife is playing her harp upstairs & I’m going to go listen for a bit & tell her how wonderful she is. Which is as much for me as it is for her.

Life is good.

I went to the grocery store and came home with a ton of produce! Iceburg lettuce, romaine lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli slaw, tomatoes, onions, leeks, green onions, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes - did I forget anything? Looks like I’m going to have to become a vegetarian now…

Well, except for the bacon of course - I’ll be a vegetarian with bacon! Oh, and kielbasa too - a vegetarian with bacon and kielbasa! Well, I did get some chicken - had to have chicken - a vegetarian with bacon and kielbasa and chicken! And maybe a hamburger to heap all that lettuce and onions and tomatoes on top of! Yes, that’s it - I’m a bacon kielbasa chicken hamburger vegetarian! There’s the ticket!

I made a grilled cheese sandwich.

Pursued the job of my dreams even though it’s going to stretch and challenge me in a thousand different ways. Out of 60 applicants, I’m one of the few left standing, and I nailed the interview. This is my first professional job search, and going through this process made me realize how much I underestimate my own abilities. I can do this, and I can do other things, and I can exceed my own expectations, and I am so glad I took this chance.

Then I went home and took a nap. Also for me.

Vegetables are nature’s way of saying, ‘‘Olive you.’’

Yes I know olives are fruits.

Seriously, though, you made a good choice! Sounds like a stew waiting to happen.

I napped, read the news, napped, read celebrity gossip, napped, came here to read. I think I may be sick; all I want to do is sleep.
