I had crispy sweet breads with a havarti and procuitto, mac and cheese. A couple glasses of sancerre and moules meiniere. Steak tartare and belle gloss pinot noir followed with a cheese plate and some poached pears with a white chocolate goat cheese mousse. Coffee finished it off.
damn, leftover chili, leftover garlic cheese bread, leftover poached pear in red wine. [I am the only one home tonight and am cleaning out the leftovers.]
sob
What I want -
a well marbled dry aged NY Strip steak, grilled black and blue, little salt and pepper
artichokes with hollandaise for dipping
chopped salad - romaine, spinach, little bit of carrot, radish, red onion, kalamata olives and garbanzo beans with mrAru’s homemade balsamic vinaigrette
classic baked custard for dessert
Well, maybe Ill get that this weekend. Probably not the artichoke yet - not really in season yet. Though I normally use vinaigrette to dip, I think first really good chokes this spring I may splurge and make hollandaise.
Truffles are something I haven’t learned to like, but the rest sounds lovely.
I had a homemade caipirinha (read: the best kind of caipirinha) and a dish of peppers, gnocchi, and chicken sausage in tomato sauce. It’s a weeknight and I’m a mom, no restaurants for me.
My Saint Patrick’s Day dinner was Trader Joe’s Spicy Spinach (guess that’s the green part) Pizza topped with soy chorizo, all washed down with a Bushmills or two (or three…)
I’m still in Mexico so I’m eating fresh, fresh, fresh.
Tonight I walked downtown and bought some ham and pineapple empanadas with chimmichuri and a bottle of jamaica water. Took them home, mashed up an avocado, fried a few chips and reheated some plantains fried in butter with a squeeze of key lime.
If the postres truck should happen to come by later tonight I’ll buy myself a piece of key lime pie for dessert. If not, I’ll have a piece of watermelon and a couple of Jolly Ranchers.
Tony’s Three Chili Chicken and BBQ Pork Fried Rice from Lao Sze Chuan in Chicago.
When they finally catch and execute me this is what I want for my last meal.
Oh, hell yeah. That reminds me. It’s been close to a year since I’ve been to Lao Sze Chuan. I need to rectify that.
Today’s dinner was some kind of improvised chicken curry-esque dish, as well as methi thepla (fenugreek leaf roti/flatbread kind of things) to snack on.
The cat’s trust fund is light on vegetables, and the library smells like goat cheese. Until i can get the Geneva convention to recognize salami as a deity, I’ll be forced to treat civil rights violations the same way that ventriloquists treat non-kosher foods. Tilda Swinton won’t clean my bathroom again until I acknowledge that space turtles may in fact be sentient.
Sooo glad there are $3 six inch subs at subway now. Those $5 footlongs were a rip off!
