Tony Snow dies.

Ok. Somebody found it. I note in your post that you consider yourself complicit. Do you also hope or feel that you deserve some kind of deathbed comeuppance based on your complicity?

Please allow me to respond, as I’m the one whose words you quoted in making your comment.

I never said I was “alright” with Dubya’s shitheaded invasion. I was only trying to point out that just because the Iraq War was wrong and shouldn’t have happened, it is by no means on the same level of evil as Germany’s conduct in WW2. I still stand by that assertion, and if you want to argue to the contrary, I’d have to see some pretty crucial hitherto-unearthed evidence that would make Bush as bad as Hitler.

In the absence of such evidence (and given what I’ve observed over the last 5 years, I’m not holding my breath) to assert what you have makes you a fucking asshole, IMO.

You know, that’s a good question. I guess the difference between me and Bush is that when I was confronted with the truth, I changed my beliefs and my actions based upon that evidence. My complicity in buying their bullshit is nowhere near as bad as theirs was in selling it to us, and continuing to do so long after it had become painfully obvious that it was all just a bunch of beachfront property in Wyoming. Feeling bad about it is what makes me human, and if one of these assholes would just come out and say “I regret lying to the American public, and I regret my role in getting us involved in this hopeless quagmire of a war,” I’d feel a lot better about them in general. I always hear people say that this is an era of no personal responsibility…well, it seems to go from the top down.

I think we’re both saying the same thing, just in different ways. You’re saying that it’s not on the same level, even though it’s wrong and shouldn’t have happened. I’m saying that it’s not on the same level, but the fact that it’s wrong and shouldn’t have happened and was based on lies still makes it evil, just a difference in scale.

No. It’s called actually having a reasoned perspective. Fuck you for calling American soldiers war criminals.

Alright, fine then. We’re in basic agreement. Which still puts us miles away from Dio’s assertion that the two are one and the same, as I have him on record by his own volition.

Which makes him either fucked in the head or a colossal asshole.

Every time you morons call me “evil,” vile" etc., you’re guilty of the same asinine hyperbole you’re accusing me of.

I said there was a difference in scale.

Horseshit. See Post 389 for what you actually said.

At least have the nads to stand by the crap you were shoveling earlier.

Scroll up a little further, scumbag. I specifically said.“The only difference is in scale.”

No, asshole. I specifically asked you in Post 388:

To which your reply was:

Try weaseling out of that one.

Saying it’s analogous is not the same thing as saying there’s no difference in scale, simpleton. I already said before that post that there was a difference in scale. Why should I have had to repeat that?

You still want to deny that I said that?

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because I was asking you a direct question?

Spin it how you like - you’re still on record as asserting an equivalence between the conduct of 1939 Germany and 2003 USA.

Not at all. It’s a fucking retarded statement to make, and as an American, you should be ashamed to be putting that out there.

Change “USA” to “Bush administration,” but I’ve been asserting that for years. What makes you think you’ve scored something?

As an American, I would be ashamed to assert anything else. Bush is not America, by the way.

I ain’t trying to score shit. I’m merely trying to make sure that your crap doesn’t go unchallenged.

That’s what this board is for. Feel free to challenge me any time.

Of course Bush isn’t America (thank God).

I agree with you that the war was wrong and never should have happened. Bush is one of (if not the) worst Presidents in US history. I don’t even have a problem with him being impeached.

However, you originally put forward an equivalence between Bush’s conduct and Hitler’s, and that shit just won’t fly as long as I have a keyboard and an internet connection.
