Tony Snow dies.

A truly horrible fate.

Okay… may the same respect be shown to Dio’s family and loved ones as he has shown to those of Tony Snow. How’s that.

Apparently he fell from a horse. I had thought it was something to do with drinking or food poisoning. Thanks for fighting ignorance.

Post 21: check.

Post 26: pending.

Hardly.

I seriously doubt that Shodan ever has ever said anything even remotely like this, let alone often enough for it to define his character such as your characterization of Dio being like him would suggest.

Show me a cite and I’ll retract. If you can’t, I seriously believe an apology is in order.

PS - Good on ya, Red. I knew you had it in you.

Why? What does it gain you?

Though I don’t remember it, I’ve no doubt it exists. Did I post in it? Did you?

I already found the thread wherein the Reagan-is-dead bashers were pitted, and you gracefully excused yourself from being included in that bunch.

Yes, it’s hard to believe. You had that grace, once. Now you wish pain upon the least of Bush’s little minions.

Once again:

Republicans think Democrats have bad ideas.
Democrats think Republicans are bad people.

This thread is proving that adage once again.

And the attitude expressed by Diogenes is not uncommon in the world - it’s exactly the attitude that led to the killing fields, the mass murder of the Kulaks and Jews, and the endless series of reprisal killing and ‘purges’ that have taken place when governments fall. Kill the leaders. Then kill the collaborators. Then kill the enablers. Then kill the people who supported them. Then when you lose power, the other side comes back and kills all of you.

It’s a medieval attitude that we had hoped an enlightened populace would leave behind. Sometimes, like now, you get a reminder that we’re not that far from that kind of savagery.

Republican has nothing to do with it. Sam. It’s the war crimes.

I’m trying to imagine a personal, off-the-record type conversation with either Hannity or O’Reiley in which either says to me, “Frankly, Obama, Hillary and Ted, are all wonderful but misguided people.”

Can’t…
do…
it.

Presumption. Snow collaborated in the deaths of thousand upon thousands of innocent people, that he was not so much duped as cooperative. That is not based on his being “simply on a different side” than me, but a harsh judgement of his actions. His opinions don’t enter into it. I judge smart people a bit more strictly than I do others, from those to whom much is given, much is expected. And I find it hard to believe that Tony Snow was too dumb too know what he was doing.

And, as Eugene V. Debs is my witness, there are any number of people who are on “my side” of the political spectrum that we could do quite well without. Darth Nader, for instance. I’d be pleased if Barry Goldwater yet lived, because I liked him. That so much of the evil visited upon us has been, of late, from one political persuasion damn sure ain’t my fault!

I will tell you the truth, as I know it: your accusation has no foundation. Believe as you will.

I guess I don’t understand what I’m presuming.

Where’s the presumption?

Anyone who’s ever listened to 5 minutes of American talk radio knows this is bollocks. A couple of weeks ago, I heard Michael Medved seriously entertaining a discussion and taking calls on whther or not Barack Obama is the antichrist.

The reality is that conservatives think liberals are evil, and liberals think conservatives are stupid.

Do you really think that by not explicitly mentioning “Hitler” or “Nazis” that you’re not engaging in de facto Godwinizing of this thread?

Snow was a lackey. As far as I am aware, he did not sack any cities in Central Asia.

Also ridiculous is Diogenes’ implying an equivalence in the level of criminality between Tony Snow, a mouthpiece, and Uday and Qusay Hussein, a rapist/murderer and the head of Iraqi internal security forces, respectively.

Perspective, people…

Goebbels was only a mouthpiece too.

Do I misunderstand your use of the word “simply”? I took it to mean exclusively, from no other motivation, save his political persuasion. If that’s what you meant, he has made it abundantly clear that its not true. Of course, if you know his mind better than he does, well, thats different.

In for a penny, in for a pound, eh?

You might have some confirmation bias.

Maybe the reality is that conservatives/Republicans and liberals/Democrats have fairly varying views on those who disagree, running the full gamut.
