We’re getting lot of solid white precipitation that pings. Again. It got a bit crazy earlier, with quite a few car crashes around due to the ice. Winter apparently catches everyone by surprise down here…
I went shopping with a skool friend today, supposedly for gifts, but I just wound up getting some stuff for myself again. Nothing extravagant, but I really need to get better at this whole gift shopping stuff; it gets expensive, and I still wind up going home to buy the actual gifts online…
I followed a guy home part of the way last night (he was headed the same route ---- not a creepy stalker kind of thing) and he made the trip interesting. I stayed to first and second the whole time not because it was that bad but because he was; there wasn’t a single 10 yard space over 2 miles where he wasn’t at least part ways sideways. It did give me something to talk about once I got home. Being a good Lutheran I included him in my prayers ------ well, at least whoever sold him insurance.
Another double tomorrow and then I am taking two whole days off. WOOHOO!
Popcorn sounds yummy. If a bit close to dinner right now. We’re having guests, so our popcorn will have to wait until late or tomorrow. Damn.
I use Orville’s corn in a microwave popcorn popper w ballpark 2-3 teaspoons of peanut oil. 3 minutes on full blast in the micro and we’re done. Then eat it right out of the cooker. No evil chemistry or high costs like the stuff in the paper bags. Few clinkers, nil effort, and easy cleanup. What’s not to like?!
If you go heavy on the oil the popcorn is distinctly greasy & the salt sticks great. if you prefer it drier, short the oil a bit. Use real popcorn salt, not table salt. You need the fine grind and flat flakes for ideal flavor.
Just checking in. Wifey is watching the boob tube and reading on her phone, so I’m without adult supervision for a few.
Sorry I wasn’t here soon enough to wish Sunny a successful surgery and quick recovery, and good drugs.
I love popcorn too but the kernels mess with me. I buy something called Cosmos Creations.
Tastes just like popcorn, but no kernels. Otherwise there’s always jelly bellies.
Don’t know what’s for dinner tonight. I’m just not feeling it. I may just go over to Round Table and get a Maui Zowie pizza.
I bought Wifey something useful for Xmas. She’s been sleeping upstairs in the guest room to keep the dogs from climbing on her new knee while she’s trying to sleep. We had an old 16" analog TV up there. Today I went and bought a 32" digital TV for her to watch until she can sleep downstairs again.
Lessee, I quit smoking 30 years ago. Hardly even miss it anymore.
Moooom, perhaps swampy is vacationing near the equator.
Wishing you well with the surgery sunny. I second skyguy about horspistol posting.
flyguy, how long do you pop your corn? I used to have one of those but jettisoned it during a move. I like my popcorn fairly dry with stevia and hot sauce sprinkled on it.
We had the bye bye party for the big boss and my cow-orker. All went well. Addressing Xmas cards this evening. That should take a couple of evenings.
Alarm set for 6AM so’s I can make my 7AM dental appt - that assumes I don’t just wake at 5 as usual. After, I go to FCD’s office to work on his project again - not sure how long I’ll be there - we shall see.
Then a weekend of smokage and getting ready for our trip south. We leave a week from tomorrow. rah.
Blurf. Saw more pics of the GreatGrandBabyGirl. She is tiny. I had a major brain fart. Every Hexmas (thanks) Boofae I charter Conch Trains to ferry folks around to look at Hexmas Lights. Normally there are eight but due to Irma I scaled it back to four since we have no customers except active families. I forgot :smack: to get the clearance to get the drivers through the gate. :smack: once it hit me on the way home I texted the Director and asked if I can just escort them through the gate. He told me not to worry and reach the security guy in the am and it will be OK. The security guy’s husband is the accountant for the train company so I feel it will be OK.
Note to self: Next year make sure to get clearance. I tell you that hurricane brain is relentless.
I failed to mention I had an appt today for shots in my knees. Dumbass nurses or dumbass insurance only approved three when I have two knees thus requiring six. I give up. I got one rooster pecker in the left and a steroid in the right one. Hopefully this can get approved this month cause of that damn deductible.
I am so very sorry for the chocolate fudge I left out for you last year.
I had drunk too much egg nog, and it seemed like a very funny practical joke at the time.
I hope you did not have too much trouble with your Christmas deliveries.
Sweet on popcorn is an abomination in my book, but whatever floats your boat. It’s certainly popular ref kettle corn at carnivals, street fairs, etc.
I’ve used hot sauce (Franks, etc.), “pizza” peppers, cayenne powder, butter, fine-shred parmesan, and a couple truly oddball ideas I now forget (squid paste?). And enjoyed each of them. Although I find I most prefer plain old popcorn salt and nothing more. Maybe if I ate it daily instead of every couple weeks I’d get bored w plain old NaCl and go farther afield.
One time I tried cooking the popcorn in Szechuan hot pepper oil. That was a mistake; it burned into the cooker and made subsequent batches taste burned and stanky. Do not do that. Had to buy another $10 cooker. Oh well.
Had a good evening. SIL & her daughter came over for dinner. She’s on her annual visit home from overseas and will be here through New Years. The exciting news is she’ll be moving permanently to our area in the Spring so we’ll get to see her much more often.
Dinner was oven roasted dry rubbed pork country ribs, sautéed zuke & summer squash, red Thai rice, and garden salad w homemade balsamic dressing. Sweet potato pie & various chocolates trailed the main event for dessert. All with a steady flow of cheapo Merlot to keep the happy yakking simmering along.
The mess is duly put away and nappy time beckons. There will be leftover zukes & rice in tomorrow’s breakfast eggs, and leftover sweet pot pie for lunch. All is fairly right with the world.
I missed whatever it is about horspital postings. I’m pretty sure I made some doozies somewhere. It’s hard to type.
Anyhoo, I am alive. Too soon to know if the surgery worked. The surgeon stopped by to talk while I was still out. Hopefully I will see him tomorrow and get better info.
