Top three alcoholic mixed drinks

Being honest about what I drink the most it would be

Gin & tonic
Margarita (but has to be a good one, no cheap tequila or sugary mixers)
Negroni or martini (preferably Bombay Sapphire or Plymouth w/3 olives)

If aviations were more widely available I would certainly drink more of those.

Also very much enjoy manhattans w/Makers Mark, old fashioneds w/rye, sidecars - all in somewhat moderate frequency

7-up, I should think.

Angry balls (a boilermaker with fireball whiskey and hard apple cider).
Faderade (vodka and gatorade. Watermelon gatorade is best).

no third mixed drink. I mostly like my liquor straight. Having said that girly drinks are awesome, but they are mostly sugar with a few splashes of alcohol. Mudslides, daiquiri, etc.

White Russian (vodka, Kahlua (coffee liquor), milk, cream or ice cream & a dash of vanilla)

Use to love Screwdrivers, but the OJ became too much for me.

In the summer I’ll make a Chocolate Russian,
fill large glass with crushed ice and add 2 tablespoons of ovaltine
add a shot of coffee liquor & a shot of vodka (be generous)
fill to near top with milk and stir until fully mixed.

Hey, a daiquiri is no “girly drink.” Ernest Hemingway would punch you right in the nose!

A daiquiri is the same damn thing as a gimlet, a whiskey sour, a margarita…just has rum as the liquor base, mixed with citrus and a little sugar.

If you ever want to make one at home, the recipe I use is 2 oz. gin, 3/4 oz. lemon juice, 1/2 oz. maraschino liqueur, 1/4 oz. creme de violette, shaken with ice. Serve with a maraschino cherry. So good, and I love the pretty color.

I’m 95 percent a drinker of the classic Margarita (not frozen).

Next, the Moscow Mule.

No strong preferences after that, but then I’m not enough of a drinker to have sampled much variety, and I do love me some lime.

For some reason Aviations are fairly common around here. But like Periwinkle says, they’re also easy enough to make at home. For a long time, that was my #3 drink, and I still really like them.

It’s freakin’ cold tonight, so I could go for an Irish Coffee right about now, or maybe an Athol Brose—warm cream, scotch, and honey, with a sachet of oats to seep in it.

In hot weather, I’ll add a Cuba Libre to my three above.

Oh damn, didn’t even think about mix drinks that involve coffee. A little Kahlua, Bailey’s or Anisette in coffee is pretty awesome.

I have not heard of this cocktail before. Nor had I heard of Falernum. I am anxious to try this drink.

And these drinks, even with just 3 ingredients, are tough to perfect.

Yes, the sweet, sour, and spirit have to be well balanced or it’s a fail.

Most recipes will tell you to use 1/3 oz of Falernum and 2 oz Cruzan Blackstrap rum. I am here to tell you they are wrong. Try this recipe:

2 1/2 oz Barbados Rum (I use Mount Gay Eclipse)
1 oz Falernum ( I use John D. Taylor Velvet Falernum)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1/2 a lime
1 oz Cruzan Blackstrap rum

Combine the rum, Falernum and bitters in a rock glass. Add a couple of cubes of ice, the juice of the lime and stir. Add ice if needed, float the Cruzan on top. Enjoy!

I tend to drink whiskey or rum on the rocks, but my favorite cocktails are:

  1. Gimlet
  2. Mai Tai( Original recipe only, not the super sweet version found in some bars)
  3. Dark and Stormy/ Nor’easter(Uses bourbon instead of rum)

By far the three most common cocktails I drink are: old fashioned, martini, and bloody mary.

Right now I can only think of one…

Hot buttered rum!

Boulevardier
Corpse Reviver #2
Admiral Russell’s Punch

Crown and Crown
Crown on the Rocks
Crown and Sprite

“Rocks” do not count as a mix, folks.

Does water count as a mix? If it does just call rocks ‘slow water’ or something.
