I’m not up on my Spider-Man villians.
Any ideas who he might be?
Actor R.C. Everbeck/Eddie Brock (Venom) is already taken, as is Dylan Baker/Dr. Curt Connors (The lizard), and so is Daniel Gillies/John Jameson (Man-Wolf) , so I have no idea. However, here is a list of characters to chose from.
He’ll be playing That 70’s Villian.
I could have sworn I already said Man-Wolf was taken!
I could picture him as Humbug.
Oh, shit.
Topher Grace is Ben Reilly. They’re doing the Clone Saga.
“Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!”
No, no, no. Here, let me do that. SCENE.
:: Falls on knees in the pouring rain, thrusts head backward with throat pointing skyward, eyes tearful – gasps deeply, a scream rising from the nethers just as lightning crackles like a whip’s lash across the bleak sky; sound of agonized fury, utter defeat and fanboy terror. ::
NAAAAHHHhooooOOOOOooooooOOOOOOOOOOO-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!

I don’t know. Was there a Lame Wussy-Man villain in the Spiderman comics?
Over at the Talkbacks at AICN.com, they’re saying Grace will be 1) Venom 2) Sandman or 3) Paste Pot Pete. I’m actually kinda hoping for Paste Pot Pete.
If they give him a nose prosthesis, shaved his head and some aging make-up he’d make a pretty good Vulture. He has the whiny voice and skinny build for it.
There was Johnny Ohnn, the Spot! http://www.geocities.com/marvel_villains/ (Look under “Guys Who Should’ve, Ought’ve Known Better . . .”)
Shave him and I could buy him as the young vulture. He could also work as that purple and green bug character – what’s it’s name.
There’s a trend here:
Thomas Hayden Church from “Wings”
Kelsey Grammer from “Frasier” (for X-Men 3)
Topher Grace from “T70sS”
So what ex-sitcom star is next to become a villian in a comic book movie?
Grammer’s playing a hero, not a villain.
Hmmmm, makes me wonder if Thomas Haden Church might not be playing the hobgoblin after all. I can see them using Topher Grace as Sandman. He would be sort of a distorted mirror of Parker: skinny, unpopular kid gets powers and goes the other way.
In a recent Amazing Spider Man story arc, one of Parkers childhood friends (a person nerdier and lower on the social ladder than Parker) gets a coating of vibranium similar to Molten Man and goes gonzo. They may do something similar to that.
And after the last two movies, there is little Sam Raimi could do for me to lose faith in him.

Actor R.C. Everbeck/Eddie Brock (Venom)

I thought they kilt-off Eddie Brock on the first mmovie
This is the first I’ve heard of it, and I am pleasantly surprised.
(Now if they’ll cast Niles to play Havok…)
Anyway, am not too worried about Topher Grace’s build, or lack thereof. They cast Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut (yes! He’s that soccer hooligan guy!), and the physical differences between the actor and his role are quite apparent. Technology, man.
No, what I am worried about is his goofiness. I must admit I’ve only seen him in Ocean’s Twelve, In Good Company, and That 70’s Show, but the remarkable, er, consistency, shall we say, of his performances are a significant cause for concern. Goofy Venom? No.
Seriously, I can’t see this guy as a villain. Unless, of course, he plays The Spot, as Brain Glutton suggests.
George Wendt as the Blob?
The Spot actually had a pretty good super-power as I recall. Limited dimensional teleporting. Good visual. Just… and extremely lame name and costume.
