If someone like you or I with good writing skills and a recognizable style were trying to sock, then doing our best to write in ignorant / pidgin / really bad ESL would probably be the most effective camouflage.
I’m not a liberal. I was pretty conservative when I started here over 10 years ago. I’m not now, but I’m also not a liberal. I’ve been accused of various things (and probably guilty of some) but not trolling that I can ever remember.
FigNorton’s avatar is… very dope savvy, like a very specific jab at those who were moaning about how profiles even need to have an avatar or they get a generic “letter” avatar generated by the forum. But more to the point, he seems to have formed some very quick opinions of certain posters, and even commented at length about a particular mod in ATMB. Almost as if he has some history with the people being commented on. It’s not unlike Enjoy_Slurm’s apparent familiarity with you, for instance.
As to the stuff about photos as an avatar. It’s not just that it’s a photo, but one that seems poorly cropped (as if from a group photo) or grainy. Monstro’s for instance. Which isn’t to say I think Monstro is a troll (they’ve been here long enough), but then again, I’m not sure it really matters when one is a sincere rampant transphobe.
None of this is to say that it’s an “all trolls do this” kind of thing, or even “all posters with these hallmarks are trolls” but more like a series of venn diagrams with a whole lot of overlap with the troll circle.
Mine is not me. But I will not be surprised if a few people here can identify it (bunch of nerds!)

The idea is that you’re supposed to make the other guy look like an asshole, not yourself. You’ve destroyed any slim bit of credibility you ever might have had, not that it was ever much. You just can’t claim to be a decent person after a post like that.
The purpose of this thread is for the “normies” to keep score of the jerks & trolls elsewhere.
If you somebody wants to try to be a jerk or troll this is the category where you’ll they’ll get the most rope to hang yourself themselves with, but this is not the right thread.

Right. The purpose of this thread is to point and laugh at trolls posting elsewhere, since we can’t do it in other forums. Coming into this thread to troll misses the point. (Admittedly this thread is so attractive to trolls that sometimes it seems like a roach motel.)
