Trolls R Us redux [Now the argument clinic]

Pretty lame.

You want lame?

I like Clamato.

On its own.

I don’t have the taps installed (Canadian reference!), but I’d consider it if they paid me.

I mean it’s just tomato juice with a bit of an umami kick. It’s like getting upset discovering that a good Thai curry has fish sauce in it. I’ll give anybody a pass if they don’t like the mouthfeel of the drink, but the flavour is great, just get over the “clam” part of it.

Oh yeah also this recent trollery is boring. I feel like I’m watching a sock puppet theatre on reruns.

Me too. Waiting for apologies.

Cool story bro

Are you one of the holdouts that think I’m a sock?

Then that particular PTB is too dumb to B a P.

Even the temporary suspension is just idiocy. It’s so clearly a troll, I will lose all respect for any mod who says otherwise.

Now banned so all is well I guess?

Wow, it’s good to see that the moderation staff is hard at work even in the wee hours of the morning.

And now, back to a discussion of Caesars.

My faith is restored…

And here I was all set to apologize.

@Babale

From the ATMB thread. Easy solution. Put him on permanent ignore (or just ignore him). If most people ignored him, then he would go away because he wouldn’t have an audience anymore, which is all he really wants.

I’ve never tried poutine but I would try it if the toppings came on the side so I could decide how much and where to experience them. For instance, when I used to get potato wedges from KFC, I would dip them in the gravy, but I wouldn’t want gravy just slathered over it. Similarly, I like ketchup on my burger a lot of the time but only if I get to decide exactly how much by myself (and so that it, freshly applied, hasn’t had time to soak into the bun).

Practically all that guy does is meta-posts – posts about posts. He almost never adds any new viewpoint or opinions. When he does try to add something to a conversation, more often than not, it’s completely bullshit.

To me, he’s already so inconsequential that I’m not even sure if I’ve bothered to put him on ignore. It’s certainly possible. But then it’s also possible I am so used to skipping right past his posts as steaming hot pink piles of garbage that I don’t need to put in the effort to have him on ignore.

He is like two different posters. On non-political threads (e.g. the free will thread in great debates), he’s a vastly different poster than on political threads. On political threads, it is the typical right-wing nonsense, which is a shame because he’s obviously capable of much more.

I do it in reverse. I have him (and a few others) on ignore, and then in non-political threads, I will view any hidden replies to see if it is anything worth reading. I find the people I put on ignore are usually only problematic in political threads.

I would do something like that back on vBulletin, when I could easily see whose post I was unhiding. But since I can’t do that on Discourse, I find I just don’t bother. Instead, I only unhide posts that are quoted, and only if the reply suggests that the poster was not being an asshole and looks like it might be interesting.

That’s happened exactly once with octopus (since the move to Discourse).

Well, now I sure feel foolish

Not as foolish as if you had been talked into drinking alcoholic clam juice mixed with tomato sauce.

Wait what? The clams are alcoholics?
