And it’s not as though we punched him in the face and then told him we only did it because we love him so much.
It’s like a dude comes into a coffee shop, and starts shouting insane blather about mole-men controlling the weather.
Customers tell him to leave because he’s an asshole.
Finally management escorts him out the door.
But he comes back because this is the only human interaction he gets, and at least it’s something to make him feel less like an empty husk of a human.

…because of course the proper term is mole-people. Not all societies are as patriarchal as ours, you know? Mole-women have been controlling the weather just as well as mole-men since the time when our ancestors were still living in caves.
