I don’t think you are a racist but I agree with the white fragility take. This is an opportunity to reflect inward about the racial stereotyping that led to the decision you made to do nothing.
Also, I have to say, presenting yourself as someone who really wants to be enlightened and then refusing to even consider reading a landmark book about the subject suggests you don’t really care as much as you think you do. I’m not saying you have to read the book, but to not even consider it speaks volumes. Do you want to grow from this experience, or not?
