I’d say I agree too, but I don’t want to pile on. So, uh, anyone want to trade sandwiches? I think my mom packed turkey for me. Extra mayo.
And I think this is really it. If we want to get rid of the Pit (and it’s not entirely up to us of course) we would need to remove the limitations on calling out liars and other egregious behavior that certain members take advantage in our forums. Moderation of course plays it’s role, but every other message board I’ve encountered is far, far worse about the so-called group think, where the moderation is blatantly partisan.
Or, of course, unmoderated chatrooms tend to be absolute cesspools. Here we have a balance, were we have at least a veneer of forced civility for 90+% of the forums, and the Pit, which is (for all the bitching) mostly about everything else and a tiny smidge about calling out posters who are fools, liars, and/or out-and-out trolls even if not necessarily by the definitions of this board.
Is there room for improvement? Sure, and I suggested a few in the last ATMB thread about the Pit. But if the Pit was gone tomorrow, and there were no rules to allow people to speak against the people that keep on pushing the edge of moderation, I suspect we’d have an immediate drop in active population and/or so much use of ignore that many threads would become disjointed.
You’re all wrong. There are no sauces made with mayo that could not be made better (and safer) by subbing in yogurt or sour cream as the base instead. NONE. I, the God Emperor of Arrakis (formerly known as the American Southwest) have spoken.
Back on task, there’s a fan of the Cubs over in IMHO who wants to know if the men of Afghanistan are simply cowards. Hidden profile. So I can’t tell if they’ve been here twenty years or twenty minutes - but I lean towards the latter.

You say you can’t tell, but: doesn’t a hidden profile still leave you with the ability to simply look at their old posts? Like this one from ‘03, or this one from ‘02?
Yeah I’ve been here since the late 90s I think. How do I unhide my profile? I’m not sure I actually have one.
Profile>Preferences>Interface>uncheck “Hide my public profile and presence features” > Save Changes(bottom of page)
Oops, my bad. Apologies, sir. From most people the question I highlighted would seem strange; but I see now that you are well qualified to ask it.
A swing and a miss.

Click on your avatar at the top (pink square with C).
Then on the head and shoulders icon at the right.
Then Preferences, then Interface.
Uncheck ‘Hide my public profile and presence features’, and click ‘Save Changes’.
No worries. I certainly asked the question in an inflammatory way in hindsight.
Before you unhide your profile you should probably check to see if you included any information you don’t want public. I’ve never looked at what the profile shows, so maybe that’s not an issue. But it might be.
@Cubsfan, go fuck yourself you bigoted asshole.
Wasabi mayo is fantastic with seafood.
Boy howdy, yes you did.
Example: Did you not realize in your profile you are most liked by @discobot ?
Lol a most exalted status!
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help
.
@discobot whom do you like most?
Now HughGoply is spamming the board with sunglasses ads:
Already closed and the links deleted.
“Too spammy to allow.”
Do you think the guy has some kind of affiliate relationship with these upmarket brands? Or does he just want to boast about how much money he has to waste, and how bad his fashion sense is?
Pretty sure it’s this one.
Right after I reported it.
