Posting in 12+ different threads on their first day as a member is at least a yellow flag. Most newbies find this site by landing on a particular thread after a Google search. Then over time they might start perusing other threads. Or if they were a lurker, they join because there was finally one thread that interested them enough to join.
Sure, it’s possible this one came new to the site with a bunch of interests, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt (for now). It’s also possible their previous sock was quickly identified, say by an intense focus on COVID, and they are attempting to be more subtle this time. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough…
Abatt…88 in the Pit thread on why we don’t need no stinking conservatives (at the end). The name = troll. Possibility that it’s jtur? I need more information in order to make that determination.
I must say the Abattoir certainly seems to know his/her way around the board for a brand new poster, completely aside from various strange aspects of the user name and, of course, the mandatory hidden profile.
Why, it’s as if we had never had an Abattoir at all, and were all vegetarians!
The slaughterhouse-themed sock actually managed to get in a post immediately after yours right in this thread, and it vanished into the cornfield before my very eyes, even as I watched. Ain’t modern technology marvelous?
I’m picking up frustration instead of anger. They seem to be the type who needs all their information in nest little boxes, and is bothered immensely with a “fact” that cannot be verified.
Not everyone is comfortable with “That source is wrong, and we cannot tell just where that wrong info came from.”
See, for example, responses in “Can someone explain E.T. to me please?” and “Why is the monkey gesture racist towards those of African heritage?” He tossed moddable snipes at both Colibri and ITD early in those threads (though I don’t know if they were actually mods at he time.)
I see a poster acting oddly, I check to see what other threads they’ve started to see if they have a pattern of odd posts. Two clicks to get that list. Nothing particularly weird or in-depth there. And I didn’t check very many of the 70 threads started by the OP, just ones with eye-catching titles. But he was an ass in each of those.
You make that sound like a bad thing. It’s good that he didn’t just come in and start talking about someone without checking their posting history. One post could just be a poster having a bad day.
Not to worry. The MO of these types is to become more and more belligerent as they post more and more outlandish and/or provocative stuff, untilt they are eventually banned. We shall see.
