See, the problem, from my POV, is that the two emphasized words have different connotations, depending on the circumstances in which they’re used. “Charges,” for instance, has a vastly different meaning when used in the criminal justice system from what it means when used in a bull session in which people are discussing exactly to what degree the President is a fuckface. So does the word “unfounded.”
The connotation I get when “unfounded” is brought up by a defense attorney in a criminal probe (or trial) is “based on such a flimsily-constructed sequence of allegations, assumptions, and speculations that an accusation of prosecutorial misconduct isn’t out of the question.” In the bull session described above, I tend to think “unfounded” means something closer to “made up out of whole cloth” or “pulled out of [someone’s] ass.”
Since this message board is closer to the bull session, than it is to the criminal justice system, the use of “unfounded” really ought to be confined to situations of rectal extraction.
Within that framework of understanding, can you provide an example of some charges made against him that are unfounded?

As I said before I’m not interested in getting into such a discussion right now, for the reasons I stated earlier. As for all of your post before what I quoted above, that makes pretty good sense to me. But I just made that response with the idea of letting running_coach know that I have no interest in making excuses or otherwise lessening in any way accusations against Trump because I admire him, or for any other reason, other than I think that some of the things people contend are simply wrong. I did not put a lot of thought into the words “charges” and “unfounded”. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for ignoring the actual substance of what I wrote, so you could make your little joke. I was trying hard to be polite, because I agree with most of what you wrote.
