TronnaDope, anyone?

So, Friar & Firkin at 7pm on Tuesday, then? We can meet outside, and proceed inside when we’ve got at least a few of us there. Sunspace and I will recognize each other, at least. I’ll be the tubby geek with the beard standing around trying to look not out of place, for those of you who don’t know me. As I’m coming from work, I’ll undoubtedly be wearing some ill-fitting “business casual” outfit.

We’ll need an address and cross streets, if possible please.

Can I asssume you’re a guy as well?

I suspect that this is the place.

Cerowyn and I are both guys.

Was it the beard that gave it away?

No, it was the fact that you were going to go out in your work clothes. We ladies try to avoid that.
I think that I have been to that Friar & Firkin, as it is close to the HHOF and that’s what I did last time I was in TO, the weekend after Diana died in 1997. People of note die when I go to Canada, I don’t know why. River Phoenix, Vincent Price, Princess Diana, Mother Teresa, etc.

The Flatiron and Firkin is a couple of blocks from the Hockey Hall of Fame; the Friar and Firkin is more like a 15 minute walk. The latter is immediately across the street from MuchMusic (and, formerly, CityTV), steps away from Queen Street West.

Tuesday August 21, 7:00?

As we get closer to the date, I’ll be able to confirm if I’ll be able to make it. Working in consulting doesn’t let you make long-term plans as I’ve discovered in my first two months here.

Whichever one is in a basement is the one I went to. Twas many years ago.

Sounds good to me. And the location is the one I linked to upthread?

By chance, both are in the basement.

Then it matters not! We’ll meet up at the one you picked. PM me for our email address.

Sadly, Tuesdays in August are impossible for me to be away for, but I miss all you Tronnaers!

Sounds great! I’ll bring the squid along as guest of honour.

Just reminding everyone (and myself) of Nawth Chucka’s imminent arrival…

Tripler, too, eh!?

Are you going to be terribly disappointed to learn that Canadians generally don’t append ‘eh’ to many sentences? 'Cause we could make a habit of it for you, if you like.

Sure, Canadians may not, but around our house Tripler and I do.

Next you’ll tell me you all don’t wear toques, eat back bacon, drink Tim Horton’s coffee and wear snowshoes to work.

We saw some Canadian soldiers yesterday at Charleston Air Force Base; I thought it was good luck the day before our wedding! Your camo is far cooler than ours, by the way. Much more ‘blendy’.

Tripler and I are on a train from Windsor as I type this, at the mercy of Via Rail’s ‘Comfort Class’. We’re looking forward to meeting you all tomorrow at 7pm at Friar and Firkin.

Man, you all got a lotta corn up here!

Ah yes. the southwest. Flat and corny.

We look forward to seeing you too! Cerowyn was suggesting that we [del]hang aropund suspiciously[/del] sit on the patio outside so we can recognise each other. I’ll have something SDMBish, like a sign that says “Cecil”.

I would politely dispute this–the Western Provinces are pretty ‘eh’ heavy, of course, it depends on the phrasing of the sentence. I’ll be happy to provide examples to you tomorrow.

Yes, Nawth Tripler nee Chucka [sub]I’ll get a slap for that later, I figure. . .[/sub] were on the corner of King and Peter, and we had to figure out which way was North. I pull off my trusty Fossil watch, and began aligning it to the sun. This did two things:

  1. It began giving me a reference point to North/South and
  2. it sent up the NERD signal, and a friendly Torontan came up and saved me innumerable minutes and just pointed towards North.

I like this town already.

Even got myself a souvenir RCAF zip-up sweatshirt.
