True Blood final season

Hey, I answered your question about Jessica last week.

Yeah, Ginger’s origin story was fun. Glad we got to see that.

I, too, noticed that the vamps didn’t have the daytime bleeds.

Not enough Violet.

The scene in the truck with Jason and Sam was cringe-worthy bad in terms of it being filmed on Soundstages 'R Us.

This show still sucks and I still watch it each week. They redeemed themselves with so much Ginger this week. I absolutely adored every scene she was in showing her backstory. And man, Pam really is a bitch. Haha!

You called it, nice.

EDIT to add:

Yeah, I thought that maybe he shouldn’t be telling the vigilantes where the diseased vamps were. Also loved the Ginger parts - always good for a laugh or smile.

Geez, everything I watch now sucks. True Blood, Falling Skies. . .hope The Strain pans out.

A tiny reminder of how funny True Blood used to be once in a while: There were Pam and Eric, in the 80’s. In full 80’s regalia, but the really hilarious thing is they had broken some rules, and the Magistrar sentenced them to run a video store in Shrevesport, La.! Oh, the looks on their faces! (That was almost as funny as American Horror Story last season, where one of the punishments in Hell was you had to work at a fried chicken place, and your fellow Hell dwellers were the customers waiting in line.)

Seeing Ginger as she was way back when was the best part of this episode for me. Possibly the best part of this entire season.

I stil watch this show because I have an hour each week in which I have nothing better to do. But it is just so sad to see how much this show has fallen from what it once was.

I wonder what the reason is. Could it have to do with some actors asking too much money and having to die as a result? (maybe Alcide and Tara?)

I think they’re trying to go out with a bang, following the Game of Thrones model - kill off beloved characters for maximum impact. It’s no secret it’s the last season, so they’re just going to play fast and loose and try to surprise us. It’s already predictable though - every week we just try to figure out who’s gonna die now. And Bee-ill and Sookie and her magical fairy vagina will be happily ever after together in the end somehow. Blerg…

I really and truly loved watching those two from their early days. I just wish there was a way to see much more of them. Aren’t they just terrific?

But … more and more … I could do without Anna Paquin. So sad. Too bad. Poor darling.

Oh! How I love the thought of The Americans returning.

I’m quoting your post because i recognize you from that thread and I feel so bad to see a fellow enthusiast and feel so bad that we are locked out from that show until it starts again.

It is enough to make me want to cry.

Oh, Boo Hoo! Pam? I love you! Please, won’t you bite me? Even just once? Bite me hard?

Real hard? Please? Please? Please?

Won’t you bite me? Please?

I am curious.

Has anyone here seen Anna Paquin’s movie, “The Romantics (2010)”?

I must admit that film hurt me on several levels. I did not expect that.

It was the first time I had ever seen Katie Holmes on the big screen and I was very much surprised.

I expected her to look much sweeter and more desirable than she did.

She looked kind of “beat up” to me.
I hope it is OK for me to discuss Anna here in the context of that other film. Or maybe I should post somewhere else?

Hmm … maybe I better think that over before I ruin that film or possibly that True Blood show for someone.

Sorry.

I did recently re-watch the film that Anna Paquin won an Oscar for. I’m surprised it hasn’t ever turned up on TCM, it’s pretty good.

Tonight’s episode was pretty good. I think it set up the back half of the season nicely while still having a few tantalizing developments. I have been waiting for Lafayette and James for a while now. Lafayette is one of my favourite characters. He really put Jessica in her place. Good for him.

I think Jessica and Jason are going to pay dearly for their indiscretion. I am glad that Sookie did not do anything stupid with Bill in her drunken state. I really hope these Bill flashbacks pay off, because they are not awesome.

Eric can make anything look good. Pam, as usual, had the line of the night.

Awfully slow and talky-talky. The coming attractions, such as they were, hint things might pick up next week. There are only a few episodes left, I HOPE there’s something exciting to come.

Wow, I thought Lafayette was a total asshole. He seduces Jessica’s boyfriend and then fucks him at the party with Jessica and a houseful of people a few yards away. Then he has the gall to get all high-and-mighty and make himself sound like the victim. If I was Jessica I would have ripped his jaw off.

OTOH, Jessica’s boyfriend was a mopey shit, so good riddance to him.

On the third hand, Jessica making out with Jason when she knows he’s with Violet was totally hypocritical of her. And stupid. I would not want to piss off Violet.

I liked the scene with Andy and Jessica, and then Andy proposing to Holly.

Lettie Mae never fails to bring the crazy.

Violet is currently the strongest vampire known to us in the True Blood universe, right? Godrick, Russell, Nan and the entire Authority council are all dead, and Eric is sick. (I think Violet is older than Sophie-Ann would have been had she lived.) That leaves Violet as the undisputed top dog, yes?

I was worried for Jessica, though the side boob definitely had me distracted. If Violet decides to kill them, is there any character we’ve ever seen who could stop her?

I hate what they did to Jessica’s relationship this season. They were established as a sweet, nice, cute couple last season, and then this season opens up with a total 180. They had maybe two scenes together and in both Jessica was a total out-of-character bitch to him. And agreed that he’s been a mopey, whiny shit all season, also out of character.

Annoying writing all around, actually, just to get us back to the obvious couples of Bill & Sookie and Jason & Jessica.

I can’t think of any, except… I’m not sure what Bill’s “power” level is after everything that happened last season. Also, I guess Sookie or Adalyn could use their faerie powers against Violet.

Why aren’t the Japanese using their vast resources to find a cure for Hep V? It seems like win-win for them. Save the PR nightmare that Sarah Newlin et al caused and save your customer base.

So the best-selling author and Vampire King of Louisiana meekly takes a number and waits in that lawyer’s office for 5 hours or more? That must be the well-mannered Southern gentleman human part of Bill.

And Sarah Newlin is The Antidote! (who would have seen that coming? she only had a small part, seasons ago, and here the fate of the True Blood world depends on her.) And I really wish we could have seen more of Tara - they’re going out to the house to look around for…wha? Hidden treasure? Why? Why now?

The show has always been a bit of a metaphorical look at the treatment of gay people and AIDS. (For example, the opening credits show a protestor with a “God Hates Fangs” sign.) But with the introduction of the crisis around Hep-V, the metaphor has become more explicit. So instead of Karposi’s Sarcoma scars, they have the visible veins. And in Bill’s conversation with the money-grubbing lawyer, they discussed the idea of him adopting his progeny to allow them to inherit his estate. Adoption was one of the ways that gay couples acquired some of the rights denied them when they couldn’t marry. And I loved the waiting room from hell scene. It reminded me of the waiting room scene in Beetlejuice.

Did anyone else notice that after Andy chased the naked Wade out of Adilyn’s bedroom, Holly groped Wade’s ass as she led him away?
