List of things that staff can’t do to the President:
- Explain what he’s thinking.
- Keep him off Twitter.
- Keep him from staring directly at the sun.
I think I might be the bigger fool for presuming this had to be an Onion article.
You can’t make this shit up… :smack:
ETA: …and thanks to Trump, you don’t have to.
He did put on protection. Scroll down to the final photo.

Geez can’t the worthless press get anything right?
He glanced up for a moment without the glasses. Then he put them on.
Give me a break. There’s FUCKING PICTURES of him looking at the sun, while people are telling him, “Don’t look! Don’t look!”
That you call the press “worthless” when you can see for yourself what happened is an embarrassing joke.
He glanced up for a second. So what?
I do it once in awhile looking at something in the sky. The sun hits my eyes and I look down. No big deal.
Eclipse is only dangerous because the partial light can fool you into looking for an extended period. You normally can’t look at the sun for more than a glance.
Trump had the glasses on in the final photo.
The meme pics that picture will spawn should be great.
Ralphie Wiggums voice: * I can see eclipse*… It looks like burning!
I would submit that the “so what” is that you asked when will the “worthless press” get anything right? They got it right: you can complain that they didn’t make a big enough deal out of whether or not he eventually put the glasses on, but that’s a separate complaint. What they reported actually happened.
I guess the press gets credit for a cheap shot.
At least the photo provides everyone a much needed laugh. It will be fertile meme material.
I mean, if your complaint is that the press takes cheap shots at Trump, I’m not going to disagree with you. My rebuttal would be along the lines of, why should Trump be the president, after all the ones before him, where the press should be expected to stop doing that?
I have no love for Trump, but this is certainly a “so what?” story.
…its almost as if its something that is both mundane and pointless: so I must share!
ABC nightly news showed video of people across the country enjoying the eclipse. Trump and Melania (watching with glasses) were included in the piece.
A rare event like this is something everybody can enjoy. It’s been a nice day.
He actually looked up without glasses a couple of different times… in some shots you’ll see Barron (wearing glasses) and in others it’s just Trump and Melania (who also took her glasses off and looked up once).
I can’t believe how many people are just shrugging or even trying to say he didn’t do it (on facebook). What kind of example is he being for our children or our country if he can’t follow one simple “rule”?
Awful lot of panties riding up on this. We have a video clearly showing the President putting on and using the glasses to view the eclipse. but Og forbid he looks up at a beautiful day like every other human being on the planet does.
Okay, this tweet from “DC Maryland Virginia” made me laugh:
Scientist: Don’t look directly at the sun.
Trump: Fake news.
“Failing Moon very weak today! Only blocked the big, beautiful Sun for a minute or two! Sad! My inauguration had bigger crowds than the eclipse!”
I just hope he’s wearing pants when he get’s his head caught in a honey pot.
Bad Trump.
