Sympathies to his family, though. Whatever mild schadenfreude I may once have had over these idiots getting sick is long gone. Now it just makes me angry how fucking stupid - how dangerously stupid - they have been acting, and how many pointless deaths have occurred because of it.

No, I totally get it. One can feel bad about people getting sick and/or dying, and still point out that it was caused by their own stupidity, and that more are likely to follow.

I’m sure he is a lot sicker than he’s letting on, and I definitely don’t think he’s on the mend.
But per the sources I’ve seen, 4.3% of people in his age group die of COVID. So his chance of dying was slim from the get-go, and he’s getting the world’s best healthcare with experimental medicine.
This doesn’t discount the possibility of lingering or permanent aftereffects like lung damage or whatnot. For that outcome, I think the question is not whether he gets it, it’s how much.
I keep waffling on whether I want him to die or suffer seriously. I’m probably repeating myself for the 3rd time, but I think we need him alive to help legitimize the election and participate in future legal proceedings. But his strutting around, hopped up on drugs and talking about how COVID is nothing, will risk millions and kill thousands, which I also don’t want. shrug

If he dies before Election Day, some anti-Trump voters will skip voting because if the risks and hassles and some never Trumpets will vote for Pence.
