I think that applies to normal people who lead normal lives out of the spotlight and who mostly don’t talk much about themselves. Trump lets it all hang out. He does not know the meaning of an unexpressed thought even when it’s not an actual thought but gibberish word salad. There are thousands of hours of video showing him in all circumstances. Any average person who watches TV has seen more of trump in more situations speaking more words than any doctor has ever seen any patient. Even trump’s own doctors haven’t seen/heard him as much as the average TV viewer.
This came up when he was elected the first time. He immediately manifested the clear-cut signs of narcissistic personality disorder. It was impossible to ignore. We talked about it on this board endlessly. But people still said, “You can’t diagnose something like that without spending time with the person in person.” Baloney. We saw more of him in action than any medical practitioner. He revealed himself constantly and still does, not only in public appearances but in the diarrhea he produces on his social media stream (and I do mean stream). He is all public, all the time.
The manifestations of whatever afflicts him are pretty obvious.
The underlying etiologies would take competent first-hand evaluation to establish (saying “it looks like amyloidosis” is rank speculation). If Trump’s docs know what’s going on with him, they’re suppressing public knowledge of it to a degree not seen before, and quite possibly kidding themselves about its seriousness.
The fact that he’s in bad shape is obvious. That doesn’t mean he’ll die any time soon. There are tons of workers comp claims being paid on people who have been comatose for years. (Those are very expensive claims, so they come to the attention of actuaries.)
Yet it’s also a thing that “I’m a licensed health professional and whatever my opinion, I am ethically and legally prohibited from speculating about diagnosis without formally assessing the person and, except under specific circumstances, from disclosing the person’s personal health information even if I have examined them.”
I remember a parody radio ad appealing to help people with Cranial Rectosis. They had their heads so far up their ass, they lacked self-awareness about being assholes. They had a dramatic rendition where one guy screamed “You cut me off! You got Cranial Rectosis or something?” Second guy: “Well, yeah!” First guy: “Oh! Sorry!”
I used to date a guy years ago who was quite a bit older than me, in fact, he had been a fighter pilot in World War II. He told me about the legend of the guy who “ran around in ever-decreasing concentric circles until he disappeared up his own asshole.”
My dad used to give people the Glass Navel Award. He said it was “so that people with their heads completely up their asses could see where they were going.”
The Oozlum bird is a legendary, mythical creature from British and Australian folklore known for flying backwards or in ever-decreasing circles until it completely disappears up its own rear end. In the 1970 British comedy film Carry On Up the Jungle, bumbling ornithologist Professor Inigo Tinkle (Frankie Howerd) leads an African expedition specifically to track down this nonexistent bird.
While out walking the dog last night we heard some people honking their horns and cheering loudly. While it was probably related to some sportsball game, I still had to take out my phone to check. Alas, I was disappointed to see that there were no news flashes.
Most mornings after breakfast my wife gets into the internet and her way of saying “I’m gonna watch the news” is “I’m gonna check if the president (our local miniTrump) died”.
And every time I tell her the same “Had he died you’ll know by the honking horns and the fireworks”
@Frodo : do you think there is any chance that could happen? He’s only around 56, right?
For all the residents of the US posting in this thread, what do you really predict would happen if Trump died suddenly? Where I live, I can’t imagine actual horn-honking and fireworks (definitely no fireworks, they have fallen out of favor for environmental and safety reasons), though I imagine you’d see a lot of people grinning and some looking dazed if you walked down the main street in town.
He’s young but lives an unhealthy lifestyle, lots of energy drinks, no exercise, apparently doesn’t eat vegetables… and those are his physical health issues, his mental health is at least as bad… so hope springs eternal.
