Trump is dying

How reliable is the source? I hate to get my hopes up in vain.

I was working at a federal government installation in Maryland. I had just arrived at work, sat down, logged in, the first thing I looked at was the Straight Dope Message Boards: right here is how I learned of the first plane crash a few minutes after it happened. To get home to Virginia when work was called off for everyone in the DC area at once, if I’d taken the American Legion Bridge, I would have been sitting there in bumper-to-bumper traffic until midnight. So I took the back roads through Frederick County to Route 15 at Point-of-Rocks, the next bridge over the Potomac, and got home quicker by taking the long way around. Made me glad to have learned geography and map reading.

Though the internet went down that day, in its place people were speaking directly to strangers all sharing the same experience at once.

When it gets to “People who have died are walking around without legs,” well, this is the equivalent of HAL 9000 singing “Daisy Bell.”

I was reminded more of Colonel Kurtz recounting his observation of a snail crawling along the age of a straight razor.

I’d say it’s as reliable as anybody posting in this thread.

I’m Heather Delaney Reese, a family travel writer turned political truth teller.

Yeah…

Trump: Pulled a Train in Vain…?

“But Joe Strummer isn’t relevant.”

“ …And Trump is…? “

However, when she’s literally quoting him, there’s not a whole lot to argue with.

Probably, but that’s not what people were reacting to. It was the description of him, given as an opinion from a blogger, not a journalist. Again, this is about as authoritative a source as any other random person on the internet.

That doesn’t make it all false, but it’s also not reliable.

The description of his arm hanging limp at his side or his makeup running and his blank stare? That takes an expert journalist? So if you watch the same videos and see it, your opinion is worthless?

There was no video in that blog, so I have no idea what incident she is referencing.

A video would be far more useful than a blog with a person’s opinion on it.

She could be letting his hopes and biases influence what she sees, or just directly lying for clicks.
Without video or a more reputable source I will let my hopes stay in the middle, not down, not up.

It’s not what a journalist can see that is different from what any other person can see that matters. What matters is the journalist’s reputation for telling the truth rather than saying whatever brings the clicks. What matters is how much you can trust what they write. Sure, there are journalists who lie, but if they’re well known, we probably know that about them.

Exactly.

Over in the Clusterfuck thread I posted quite a few of Aaron Rupar’s clips from Trump’s speech yesterday. He really was unusually out of it, kept slurring his speech and mispronouncing words, going off on tangents, implying that he thinks the age of consent is 7, casually swearing, and generally having absolutely no idea what is happening in the real world.

That’s true. But people have been pointing out his arm, his weird gait, his wandering, his drooping mouth, his deathgrip on the handrail of the airplane steps, etc, for awhile now. I was simply pointing out that it’s still promising. Unless you believe he got better?

Nah, I just wish for more certainty before celebrating.

She has over 48,000 subscribers and is a “truth-teller”, so how can she be questioned?

Now, if she also billed herself as a “critical thinker”, all doubts would be removed.

Wow, when did that start?

Couldn’t tell ya, but I do like a sip of pickle juice straight out of the jar now and then.

Serious question: If trump is so decrepit that he can barely put two words together, how did he manage the hours of the SotU address?

I was hoping he’d fall on his face and crap his pants on live TV, but alas, no. So what’s the deal? Are people just seeing what they want to see? How does one reconcile the “age of consent is 7” comments with the SotU? Large does of uppers? Body double? Or are people exaggerating or lying? I don’t know.

Adderall

I could of course be wrong - but I reconcile them by remembering that reading or even reciting words that someone else wrote is very different that trying to put together a coherent sentence on your own, on the fly. Most of his bizarre comments seem to be when he either is answering questions ( that he might not have a prepared answer for) or when he goes off script.
