Trump to deliver a primetime address on Thursday, 7/16 at 9pm eastern

Hmm, that’s a good observation I hadn’t thought of. A live audience incites his desire to free-style bloviate.

I’m going to change the air in my car’s tires.

Love it.

Is it 9pm eastern time I suppose? I can’t watch it, I have lots of ammo and I really like my house.

I’ll probably be playing chess or darts with my wife. Trump does not (never has) anything to say that is in anyway interesting or close to the truth.

Typo or Freudian slip? Either way, it make me smile.

The votemaster said he will be watching it–although he would rather undergo a root canal without anesthetic. I can await their report in the morning.

He may try to claim the Georgia senators stole their elections and should not be there, but only the senate can expel them.

I expect that he will announce that ICE will supervise the election. Most states will resist and SCOTUS will get to rule on it. On the shadow docket of course. He might try to cancel the election but then on Jan. 6, the entire house and 1/3 of the senate disappears.

I expect nearly the entire speech will be an airing of grievances.

ABC and NBC have already announced that they won’t air it, which means that one will need to check it out on See-BS.

I’m planning on getting an oil change, actually.

I’m rotating the air in my tires. Too bad, so sad.

I’m planning on watching some paint dry. Better use of my time and less stressful.

Serious answer, I think it’s going to end up being a big nothingburger. I’ve heard all kinds of speculation and guesses that sound plausible. He’ll have a script, which we know he can follow, and he’s less likely to speak off the cuff if he does not have a live audience to play to. He’ll lie at least twice a minute. We’re almost certain this is going to be about non-existent fraud in the 2020 election again because he’s pathologically obsessed with it. He’ll probably mention Ossoff and Warnock and the Georgia elections, but he’ll stop just short of calling for their expulsion. He can’t do anything about that and if he does call for action on that, and doesn’t get it, it’s just going to make him look weak.

He has won the war in Iran for like the 15th time.

Tariffs are great, and the economy is uniquely the greatest it’s ever been in American history.

Would you like to buy a Trump coin?

Affordability is a hoax.

Inflation isn’t real.

He’ll float the idea of federal action being taken in regards to the midterms. He will have no specifics and will again stop just short of calling for direct action. He’s floating this idea to see how it goes over.

Isn’t ICE great? They’re doing a fantastic job.

He’ll be jacked to the gills on Adderall.

He just wants to bitch at the nation again. His insane grievances will grow along with his ego.

In trump’s case, I think we can go ahead and stick with “hooved quadruped with horns.”

This is real: $1 gold Trump coin photos revealed by Treasury

That article doesn’t state whether this is a collectable coin with the face value of a dollar, or to be released into the general currency pool. Everything I see implies it’s going to be circulating along with dimes and quarters, but I can’t see confirmation.

On further research: Trump Just Put His Face on Money Nobody Will Want to Spend - Newsweek is clearer, and also mentions that Coolidge did the same thing, which I’d never heard about.

He’s all butt hurt because his teleprompter person made money in the past by betting on what was to be included in his speeches. What he was really upset about was not getting his cut.

His so unpredictable I hate to say for sure, but a reasonable prediction is that he will mention this:

Politico: Ahead of Trump speech, DHS says it found thousands of non-citizens on voter rolls

I’m wondering if it will turn out that these are Americans who used to have green cards but are now citizens. If so, it could be a GOP own-goal:

CATO: Naturalized Immigrants Probably Voted Republican in 2024

(As to why immigrants would be Republicans, I think part of it is a perception that the GOP is more patriotic. Democrats fly the flag a lot, but it can’t hurt to do it more. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a way to out-do Trump on literally hugging the flag.)

From what I can find, appears to be the case. NBC says it will be airing the documentary The Americas at 9:00 PM, and ABC will have a game show.

In my experience this is unprecedented. A prime time presidential address is usually treated as important news, but then, this is no ordinary president. This is an Orange Doofus, con-man, and serial liar who rarely has anything important to say and never anything truthful. It would be great if CBS didn’t carry it, either, but then, they’re the ones who terminated Stephen Colbert.
