True dat. With all the rebuilding after it gets flattened by a nuclear strike in the war with Russia, there’ll be jobs for all. Er, the survivors.
I didn’t vote in the OP’s rigged poll, because the only option for “I’m staying here” is worded in an anti-Trump way. But, as a Trump supporter, I will have no desire to move, and his election will be a cause for celebration.
538 predicts Trump has a 55% chance of winning. Anyone thinking of relocating?
Well, right now it’s showing Clinton at 52% and Trump at 47%.
I’m in a very blue county in a very blue state.
Those who like to play the markets - I suspect the Dow will be down all day tomorrow.
Too bad Trump wanted Dictator-for-Life - he doesn’t have many dupes in Congress, so the most he can do is Executive Orders.
And be Commander-in-Chief.
But we now get recreational weed! Good timing…
That’s assuming he doesn’t let the DEA off it’s leash.
My mum’s family is originally British. So that’s an option, maybe.
Or I can move to Canada. I have a plan with a Canadian pal. My boss says I can work from Canada if Trump wins.
ETA: I need some of the recreational weed that Massachusetts just legalized.
Whoever is still packing needs to get moving. Trump just won so this isn’t theoretical anymore. Luckily I do live in Massachusetts so, even though I have never smoked the newly legal wacky weed, maybe I can just stay here and that will make things better.
Which is nobody.
“Executive Orders” aren’t what people think they are. The president can’t dictate laws at the stroke of a pen. An EO is a presidential directive on how laws passed by congress are to be enforced.
As I said upthread, I’m staying right here in Montreal. Now the question is, will any of my kids join me.
I was just thinking about this thread. We’ve been visiting my mother here in (normally) deep red Georgia and go back tomorrow.
Since I’ll retire in Taiwan, the only thing which directly affect me is the stock prices.
Other than making me deeply disappointed in America.
I know I’m late to the party, but people who do this in real life are slime bags. Do not take advantage of the goodwill we’ve built with our international aid, Peacekeepers, lack of warmongering, etc.
I’m planning on staying here, but my wife is working on getting Italian citizenship through her grandfather. If she can pull that off, we’ll consider somewhere in the EU.
stoopid Brexit
What kind of impact do you think Trump will have on the Taiwan Relations Act? Assuming he even knows it exists of course.
My husband works for a Swedish company, and I’d consider moving there if my father passes during the next presidential term. That’s if Sweden would even have us.
I’m going to stay right here in Portland, and probably only do RV trips to CA, WA and parts of OR. A small protest on my part, as most of OR and WA (non-urban) is bright red.
Just got back to this thread and realized I missed this very important question.
I don’t know if I’m different. We (DH and I) may be over-reacting to a media stereotype of an irrational narcissist, which was created by, well, Trump. If he turns out to be a saner person than so far presented, and our economy doesn’t return to the Bush recession, then we can ride things out. We did it with Bush.
On the other hand, if the economy tanks, he destroys our international relations, he rolls back ACA and civil rights, limits freedom of the press, and all of the other fairly horrific things he’s been campaigning on for months, we might seriously look at where else we might be welcome. I don’t think that’s unreasonable.
Updated response: But I will be surprisingly bummed out (depressed??) about it. And speaking of religious bigotry- hello Vice President Pence. Good God.
Beam me up Scotty !
No kidding, an English lady I know here in Honolulu told me today that five of her friends back in England have received five marriage proposals from Americans looking for a sanctuary.
