Love it.
That comic is probably not getting a Netflix or Comedy Central special anytime in the near future, and a few clubs may end up cancelling on him. But, he’s probably already cemented his status as a legend in the MAGA mediasphere, and he’ll be milking that MSG gig for years to come, billing himself as the comedian who dared to outrage the libs. And when every late night comedy show, save for Gutfeld, refuses to touch him with a million-foot pole, this douchebag will also cast himself as a martyr, which will of course get him regular gigs from the RNC, CPAC and other hives of scum and villainy.
They have Fox News on in the break room at work sometimes, and the spin is astounding. I remember a few months back watching Jesse Watters bitching about how dark and depressing Biden’s speech at the DNC was. Not five minutes later, he plays a clip of Trump saying that you can’t even go to the store anymore without fear of getting shot by some hoodlum.
Even if you agree with their politics, I don’t know how you can take these assholes seriously.
Which is an older crowd that doesn’t attend stand up comedy. And he is already being scape goated as being the reason the MSG event turned into a hatefeast and will likely be further blamed if and when Trump loses. Even if Trump wins this guy is toast because that is the way Trump rewards his true believers.
This came up on my YouTube feed yesterday. It’s an analysis of Cabaret, one of the best films of all time IMO, comparing conditions in pre-war Germany with the current situation in the US. The commentator doesn’t mention Trump or MAGA at all, but dwells more on how Germany was just beginning to be more accepting of gays and transsexuals and had a “libertine” social reputation before the Nazis came to power and curb-stomped the country.
In identifying historical cycles, when revolutionary trends are believed to have gone too far and the pendulum swings to the other direction, it’s called a Thermidor Reaction. (Although when it’s done by a cabal of billionaires meeting over expensive cigars, it should be called a Humidor Reaction).
the opposite of a nazi has called nyc rally an “absolute love fest”. this is from his remarks from mar a lago.
Looks like Minitrue is in full bloom. Let the MAGAsphere Hate Week continue.
The MSG rally was a love fest in the same way that 1/6 was. I do not think that Trump knows what that word means. I’m pretty sure they know they messed up because they are now floating the narrative that the comedian was a Democratic plant Let us not forget, though, all of the other hateful bilge spewed from the other speakers at that rally. Now if Harris can only remember to bring the joy tonight we may be OK.
Sure he does: people assembled in relatively large numbers to prove their love for and fealty to … Meeeeeee!
It’s not how you or I would define it, but …
And a fanatical devotion to the Trump.
I’m sorry, I’ll come in again.
If there is any benefit to early voting for Trump, it’s that many ballots were cast before those Puerto Rico comments were made at the MSG rally. Whatever votes have already been cast for Trump, can’t be changed now.
He’ll still lose the election anyway, but this reduced the damage by a little bit for him.
Meh. The early voters are more likely the definite voters. The impact, if there is one, and I think there will be, is on the voters who were undecided about voting, now less likely to bother for Trump, and those now more likely to vote against him instead of staying. A large amount of the Puerto Rican heritage vote often does not bother most times. And they will not be alone.
Those of us who are voting for Harris even more than against Trump are already in the bag.
Just to put a slight damper on this, he also might be happy with this for non-partisan reasons. As the guy in charge of Georgia elections having a high turnout means he is doing his job well.
It does, but Gabriel Sterling really seemed to be offended at Trump’s actions to corrupt Georgia’s election in 2020, and his anger over it does not appear to have abated.
High turnout means a lot of new voters, and I just haven’t seen Trump’s efforts as having motivated a lot of voters to come out early and vote for him. Kamala Harris’s have, though. Which is why I think Sterling is so happy – and why I am, too.
Now, I’ve hijacked the thread with all this Gabriel Sterling talk way too much. If you want to carry on further discussion, let me know and I’ll start a new thread.
Apologies to @excavating_for_a_mind!
Anecdote: Watching on CNN an interview with a Puerto Rican man* who has a large following for a radio show, who said he got a call from one listener who said he’d already voted for Trump, regretted it, and was calling all his family and friends urging them to vote for Harris.
*Sorry, don’t recall the name.
“Trump says he didn’t hear New York rally comedian, doesn’t know him.” You’ll note he never apologizes or mentions the “jokes.”
I bet that comedian now knows some people on Trumps staff. Now he does.
{something something} “he may have brought me a cup of coffee one time in the White House, I don’t really remember, but he seemed like a nice young man …”
To no one’s surprise.
Meanwhile every R with a large PR voter demographic in their race is either publicly or privately imploring the campaign for some better reaction even if it is “okay, whoever lined him up was a moron, we aren’t paying for this, are we?”
Which is not going to come.
