Trying to i.d. old china, possibly French - Cupid being drawn in a chariot by 3 demure maidens

Piper Dad has asked me and my brother to help clean out some of his stuff prior to a move. One piece of china that he has looks fairly old, but we’re having trouble identifying it.

It’s a coffee (or chocolate?) pot with accompanying cup and saucer. It’s got an allegorical picture on it, of what looks like Cupid in a chariot, being drawn by three maidens in vaguely classical dress. That picture makes up pretty much one side of the pot, in an oval, framed in a red, green and gilt pattern.

There’s a maker’s mark on the base, but it’s old and faded. We’re not sure what it is - possibly “Depiage” or “Oepids”, followed by “Royal”.

Piper Dad says it came from my mum’s side of the family, is probably “old” (a flexible term, of course). If it came from my grandmother, it could well date to the early part of the 20th century. Dad also mention that he thinks it’s French china. Certainly, the picture looks like some art-work that I’ve seen on other French pieces.

I thought that if any place could i.d. something like this, it would be the Dopers.

If it has a single stick handle, at an upward angle, it’s a chocolate pot. Picture would help.

Thanks! not a single-stick, but a regular handle, attached at top and bottom, so I guess that makes it a coffee pot.

My camera is on the fritz - if I can get it going, I’ll post a picture.

The Dopers come through yet again!
