Good. So…how long should we continue flogging the boards with these threads, then? A thread every month, demanding updates and floggings all around? A thread a week, just to make sure no one ever, EVAR forgets? Maybe a permanent “mea culpa” sticky at the top of the Pit, so posters can come in and loudly decry the mismanagement of the situation?
Unless of course someone wants catsix to shriek so that they can then say ‘Look, catsix is shrieking!’
But really I don’t have much to say here. Everybody knows what I think.
Maureen I thought I went to some trouble there to give my opinion calmly. Your interpretation is loopy. Your whole position is strange, in fact. You are here screeching about other people screeching about a subject you no longer feel is screech worthy- your screeches require different material you seem to screech.
I’m glad I could provide you with a new word to play with, CarnalK.
The reason this is coming back up now is that we are just now finding out what TubaDiva’s punishment for her actions was - 30 day suspension. At the time of her suspension, a lot of people were under the impression that the suspension was to give the administration of the board time to figure out what the final course of action would be. We thought she might yet be banned, once the issue had been investigated further, or she might come back without her admin rights.
Many people thought a 30 day suspension was not enough. We were told that the suspension was just the beginning. Now we find out it’s the end, too.
Count me among those who think Tuba should lose any admin privileges and possibly be banned from the board for her behavior. I have not guarded my identity on these boards at all, but I understand how important privacy can be to others, and Tuba’s actions were a willfull violation of that trust.
That said, I’m unlikely to leave the boards over this. The breach of the privacy policy doesn’t make the SDMB personally unwelcoming and I don’t think that the loss of membership fees is likely to make a difference in how the board is run.
Where were you told that the suspension was just the beginning?
I can’t link the thread because I can’t find it, but I remember a moderator response to people unhappy with the temporary suspension that it did not mean that the 30 day suspension was going to be the only punishment.
Your persistent bumping of this thread suggests actions contrary to your objective.
How many pages is this thread going to be before we hear from Tuba herself? Or, is she banned from speaking about it?
If 30 days suspension is her only punishment, I’d like to hear it from an admin, so I can make sure not to renew.
Well I’ll have to take your word for it then, I suppose. I read most of the threads regarding the “unplesantness” and don’t remember that one, but my memory ain’t what it used to be.
How do you get from “not the only punishment” to “just the beginning”?
Did the mod say more punishment was possible or definite?
Was this mod in the know or just speculating?
From here:
My guess is she will not be posting in this thread.
I can only answer your first question - I was given the impression that the suspension was given because something needed to be done immediately. After she was suspended, we were told that the final fate for TubaDiva was still being discussed.
I figured if they found out she fabricated or exaggerated her claim that there was proof that grooming was going on, she’d be banned, and if it was determined that there was something bad going on, she might have got off easier, like being stripped of Admin status but allowed to post after the suspension.
Geez, Maureen–now you spend your time counting the posts to verify in what order catsix posted?
She certainly wasn’'t the first to express an opinion and that opinion was reasonably mild.
Seems to me that you seriously have a thang for her as we drawl down here in Texas.
jlzania, posts are numbered, and she was defending herself against the charge that she was nettling catsix even though catsix hadn’t posted in this thread. All it took was going back a page to check.
Daniel
If you had read this it might have cleared things up for you.
I have the same memory as Blue Ruin on this point. I believe it was stated in one of the threads that was whisked off to Mod/Admin Only territory, so I can’t confirm my recollection, but what I recall jibes with Blue Ruin’s recital, that the suspension was the immediate reaction and that all options with regard to TubaDiva were open at that point.
Something makes me think it might even have been Dex who said it, but that is so tenuous a memory that it’s not reliable.
Thanks, Daniel, every time I hit submit I’m getting timed out.
Jlzania, I have a thaaaaaang for her? My, you Texans are certainly obsessed with sex. Though, with all the laws restricting it, it’s certainly understandable.
CrazyCatLady, you’ve got mail.
From my link above-bolding mine.
*3. Hearing of the matter on Monday (the incident had happened over a weekend), Reader management ordered all SDMB threads associated with the matter hidden and instructed TubaDiva to do or say nothing more about the matter pending review.
The review having been completed, Reader management has taken the following steps:
- TubaDiva’s posting of personal information about the user on LiveJournal constituted a serious violation of SDMB/Reader privacy policy. Although the information about the user, including his real name, was obtained through publicly-available sources, our privacy policy draws no distinction with respect to where the personal information originated. **Accordingly, we’ve suspended Tuba as an SDMB administrator for 30 days and revoked her posting privileges for a like period. ** *
I assumed from this that the question of sanctions was answered. Also, if IIRC, most of the threads complaining about Tuba’s punishment assumed the same, as the posters felt the punishment to be insufficient. It never really occurred to me to think that the thirty days was simply a waiting period preceding a “final decision” (Blue Ruin’s “just the beginning”).
Ah, then my memory was in error (and I hadn’t read the preceding Contrapuntal post while composing mine). Not surprising given the scope of the brouhaha.
