Reading that customary signoff of hers made me all teary-eyed.
Switzerland has the same options as Germany.

Donations made to a certified charity fundraiser can be made by PayPal, but personal fundraisers cannot accept PayPal. They can only credit or debit card donations.
If you’re unable to donate using a credit or debit card, you can always get in touch with the GoFundMe organizer to ask whether they’re able to receive your donation another way.
To do this, visit the fundraiser you’d like to donate to and click or tap the “Contact” button next to the GoFundMe organizer’s name. This will allow you to send them a direct message.
Thanks for the clarification.
That was a beautiful memorial. Thanks, Ed.
In the few interactions I’ve had with Jenny, she was always kind and supremely helpful. She will be missed. I would love to contribute as well; please do make an announcement when the GoFundMe is up.
It’s been up and running; see post #46.
And it’s doing well, too. Already hit 2x its goal.
So… does that mean 2 tubas? Does it mean I shouldn’t contribute?
Thank you!
I was just pleased to see how well it was going.
I know I speak for the SDMB staff and Sun-Times management in saying we’re touched by - and grateful for - the Teeming Millions’ generous support for the TubaDiva Memorial Tuba Fund. Additional contributions are welcome. We hoped to be able to raise enough for one instrument; if we can raise enough for several … well, you can never have too many tubas.
Thanks!
Thanks, I just wanted to know whether more money would be useful. Donating seems like such a pale substitute for TubaDiva, but it’s better than nothing.
Jenny was always an advocate for live music wherever you can have it (as am I), and all of us who played in groups with her (and pretty much anyone who plays as an adult) found our love of music, and of the camaraderie that comes with it, in school. Many, many schools struggle to maintain enough equipment to welcome any student who is interested into their music programs. Your contribution will make that part easier for them, and you never know for sure what the outcome will be, though it’s almost always good. You might have supported the next great virtuoso or pop star who influences a generation with music, or built the foundation for success elsewhere, or even saved a kid who needed band more than the band needed a player, and kept them away from destructive influences. While money is ultimately a small gesture, it’s the actions that it enables that are the true tribute.
And if money isn’t enough for you, BE the tribute you want to be, wherever you are! Find a way to participate or encourage your local music scene, even if it’s simply being part of an appreciative audience - music is a PERFORMANCE art, always best when shared with others. If you were in band before, try picking it back up and joining a local group - it’s amazing how many times I’ve heard a bandmate regret the years of joy they lost because they waited so long before returning.
I think more of that would be a fine way to remember Jenny.
That’s gonna be a mighty tall order, Frank. This city is the tuba capital of the world. Acme Tuba, Tuba World, Tubas Are Us… International House of Tubas, Tuba or Not Tuba, Tuba Ligation.
