Turkey Time MMP(Somebody's gotta do it!)

blurf
That is all.

I’m up and have been awake for hours.

I’ve got my coffee and have already been to the bank to pick up some cash for my son. I still need to shower and all, but when I went to the bank it was the buttcrack of dawn and still dark out, so no one saw me.

I’m going to the hospital today to see my Dad again. His prognosis has been changed to weeks instead of months. His physical and mental decline have been very rapid and the tumor continues to grow.

I wish my son wasn’t going back to school today, or I’d take him with me. I don’t think my Dad will be around for Christmas, and this makes me incredibly sad. It’s going to a rough one this year.

I’ve got to face the crowds at the mall tomorrow. I need some clothes and shoes and I leave Monday for North Little Rock, Arkansas for training. I’m trying to pack a lot of weekend into my weekend. I’m sure my friends want to get together tonight too.

It won’t be any fun. I speak from experience. It does, however, get better very slowly.

What are you doing in NLR, Taters?

I am attending training on our business planning tool and process. Since the Army is big into slashing TDY costs, they have decided that sending us to Camp Robinson will save the government lots of money because we have to stay in billets while there and rental cars are not authorized for this TDY.

Our Performance (business) plan is a five year projection where we project enrollment and productivity targets for our hospital and our clinics. Right now I’ve got seven (including the hospital) that I have to do. It’s a rigorous and painful process. We also have critical initiatives that we have to address in the plan, and meet targets set for us by our higher command. We must show where we’ve been, where we’re going, and really have a damn good explanation if we feel we can’t make target.

In all it takes three or four months to do the thing. I hates it; yes I does.

Anyway, that’s why I’m going to North Little Rock.

NLR, Gotta Love it. I never usually get further than a few hours past Jonesboro, but I was in LR a few months back. Can’t say it made much of an impression on me.

North Little Rock was once officially Argenta. Unofficially it is still known as Dog Town. Unwanted dogs in Little Rock were rowed across the Arkansas River and left in NLR.
Personally, I believe we should call them North Little Rock and South Argenta. It would confuse visitors and entertain the locals.
If you enjoy barbecue, try Corky’s, The Whole Hog, and Jo-Jo’s.

Three or four months? Good gad.

We have Corky’s in Memphis. I am not impressed.

However, Tops BBQ rocks my socks off.

Happy Saturday.

House guests from hell well to Vegas for a week, so I am enjoying the peace around here and hoping to gets lots of decisions made.

I have one foot in the door and one foot out. My mother is telling me (well not really telling as she really can’t tell me anything) not to leave, she says they are leaving soon (I don’t believe her).

I go one foot out the door with the SO as well. He wants to work it out, I’ll hear him out but… unless he is willing to make some huge changes it’s not going to work.

Good morning (just barely morning, anyway!) We actually braved WalMart this morning and it wasn’t horrible! I needed kitty litter and **FCD **wanted some dog treats for the puglet (he’s decided he doesn’t like Ninja as a name after all, so we’re back to the drawing board. And no, Pugsley is not an option! :stuck_out_tongue: )

They had gigantic skeins of yarn for cheap, so I got 7 biggies, plus a smaller one for a sweater for the dog. I found a pattern on line that looks really easy, and the poor pup does not like the cold, so there we go.

Laundry is laundering. It’s cold and windy out - only 39° - and cloudy. I’m so glad we did our outside chores yesterday. And I can’t get over what a difference cleaning the windows made - I had no idea they were so filthy!

Apart from laundry, this will be a knitting day. Tomorrow, we’re going to shop for countertops. Good times…

Happy Saturday!!

Happy Caturday! It’s 27 degrees but not windy like yesterday (30 mph sustained winds) so it feels rather tropical. I’ve got pork country ribs in the slow cooker. I’m taking down Thanksgiving decorations and slowly putting up Christmas. It takes me a few weeks to get my house ready and no, it’s not tacky!

Yesterday I succumbed and bought a Nook for $59. It’s going back for a myriad of reasons. Our work department “adopted” a family for Christmas and one item on their list was a Christmas tree so I said I would buy it. I got a very nice tree this morning for $59 so I’ll be even Steven when I return the Nook plus I’ll feel like I did something unselfish.

Later I will see Bob teh Wonder Pony and feed the barn and bring the horses in. Life is good.

BTW “Sweet, Sweet Connie” was working at a Waffle House in NLR last time I was there, I was on tour and yes she offered. Kinda surreal.

Blurf blurf blurf. Blurf blurf, blurf blurf BLURF!

A friend of mine propositioned her thirty years ago and she said, “Why should I do it with you when I can with someone important?”
Perhaps she is not as attractive now.

No I can say that the years have not been kind to her, but she is or was quite nice. Her eyes really lit up when the band came in, must have brought back old times. It took me a while to figure out who she was and why she was so friendly, I finally just asked her. She responded " why yes I am Sweet Connie " and asked about our lead singer. Some things never change. A band I know named Artemis Pyledriver took her up on the offer, all five guys, like I said somethings never change.

Humor…it is a difficult concept.

Jesus H. Christ.

Wait a minute. A am not surprised that she has to work at a restaurant, but Waffle House has bands?!?

Sure:

The Waffle Stompers.
A Band Named Waffles.
Fluid Waffle.
Waffle Band.

And a cast of thousands.

No silly Mumpers AFAIK Waffle House does not have bands, but this particular one is close to the I-40/30 junction. There is also an ok, cheap hotel within walking distance, hence many bands. Speaking of Little Rock it has been a while since any of my bands has played there, I like that town. Alas maybe next year, Flytrap I will comp you a couple of tickets if you want next time I am there

Cheers all and happy Saturday

Jim

Done with laundry for the day. We ate early at Bert’s. I’m gonna knit the night away.

MWAH!

She has not aged well. Drugs and rock and roll do not a beauty routine make.

Wait a sec! They sell tickets to the Waffle House where Connie does her act?

Jyumbalaya has been Jum’d & first consummation of it has occurred for a late lunch. It was quite tasty & also vampire-proof with all the garlic I put in it (that’s a staple the way I learned to cook). More for dinner tonight & dessert will be the pumpkin cheesecake that I made last night.

Thus endeth the week of thrice cooking multi-hour meals.
