Sunday flavored blurf
Deheathenizing later (my services are in the afternoon). Apartment’s in acceptable shape, except for Her Feline Majesty’s box and needing to get garbage evicted to the dumpster, so any further defilthifying can wait until tomorrow.
Need to get busy tomorrow on job-hunting tasks.
Sorry April. The day we become parents our lives are never worry-free again, are they?
Got all the Christmas lights put up in about 5 hours yesterday. Wrapped 5 trees with string lights, put net lights on the shrubs, wife put up wreaths, garland and bows. It looks nice.
I had skipped it the last two years since we were in CO during holidays but this year everyone is coming here so the effort was worth it. I think this afternoon I may even do the palm tree in the back yard.
Phew, so much for the ‘day of rest’, I got offered a really solid desk on freecycle, perfect for my new axolotl tank. Drove down, and it wouldn’t quiiiite fit, but we worked out it’d fit with the top bit taken off.
Over the next hour, it became evident that the desk had been designed by the same people who design puzzle boxes, and nothing would come off without other things already being taken off. We were literally just about to get a sledgehammer, to smash up the drawers (as I only really needed the top) when the guy giving it me managed to somehow break the laws of physics and get it apart enough to fit in my tiny car.
I’ve then spent the whole day putting it all back together back in the house, and rearranging my bedroom in order to fit it in. I have reached the conclusion, during this process, that I am a complete and total slob, who never throws anything out. I really am disgusting, there were bags of recycling, some of which had probably been there since last year and never made it outside.
I’ve been putting everything off for ages, after I messed my back up, and now I get the payback… aaaaaahhhhhhh… so much crap! I need to stop being a horrid lazy slob.
I’m not putting up any decorations until the start of december. Hopefully, I can get the place looking nice by then.
Back from running about. We had breakfast, then went to Home Depot and Lowe’s with copies of our kitchen layout so we could get counter estimates. Much as I don’t want granite, it looks like that’s the way we’re going. **FCD **was looking at every corian-type counter and noting the scratches - um DUH! This is a store. People are not going to take care in a store. And anyway, our laminate counters have scratches, too - they were never a big deal… But it didn’t matter. It was a battle I’d never win.
We did find a granite that looked nice with our cabinets (which we got from Lowe’s and which they had on display) and it’s not as overwhelming as some granite patterns, so it’s probably the way we’ll go. But not till after the first of the year. I am not dealing with a major kitchen task in the insanity of the holidays plus the several large projects I’ve got at work. January will be just fine.
The new puppeh is on the way to being named Piddles - she’s watered the carpets 3 times since yesterday. I am not amused. Please send puppy Pampers.
Stoopit dog.
I am on the way to getting some for Mouse, too. Got everything off the floor in the bedroom and now he’s decided that the carpet in there is just FINE for piddling on.
We have puppy pads, and he’s peeing AROUND them. :smack: He used to pee ON them, but now…fah! I haven’t yet caught him in the act, I just step in the wet spots later. Despite having two cats, I know it’s him; the cats can be outside all day long, and the first thing they will do when they come inside is use their litter box.
Hrm…wonder if dogs can be litter box trained…
Dogs can be litter trained - ours is. When we cage her while at work, she’ll use the litter box. The problem is when she’s free-range in the house and we lose track of how long it’s been since she went out.
This is really frustrating - our other dogs were all adoptees and were pretty much adult and trained. We haven’t had to deal with a puppy since 1985…
Kitchen is clean, on to the bathroom.
Speaking of kitchen, time to pack ours up! Gonna toss anything chipped, just keep a good set for later.
In a week, Mouse will be at his old home <with us, or at least with MrTao if my job doesn’t come through> and will have both a doggie door and all his siblings and mom to follow around. He’d BETTER not pee in the house then! I’ve often wondered if his being outside with me half the day has given him the idea that it’s not just for peeing; at one point I tried limiting his time outside, trying to get him to associate ‘potty’ with ‘outside’ but it’s so nice out…
Oh well, in a week he’ll have his new schedule, and hopefully he’ll fall into a routine there.
Cat Kid and her husband just this week moved back to IL after 2 1/2 years in The Rock, originally they lived in Maumelle, but everyone called it NLR. Try that for confusing.
I will go “so-so” on Corky’s, but once we tried Whole Hog, we never went anywhere else. Have the potato salad. Mix the #3 and #5 for the perfect covering. I’ll miss some of the food in LR, but not the 11 hour drive!
Go downtown to Sticky Fingerz and have the gumbo. Say hello to it for me!
I think BBQ talk is grossly unfair when some of us live in a BBQ desert.
At least I can get a little fix when we go to Ocala…
Up, at irk, decaffeinated. Stopped off at Starbucks for a faux-coffee and muffin. Waiting for things to break.
Ok stop it right there. Small World alert. I have known the owners of Sticky Fingers since 94’. Chris and Susan will tell you it is all my fault that they opened the place, it is usually the place we play in LR as well. Really it is a small world after all.

Howdy from da cave! I’s home and tahrd. Talked to OYKW who is also home and tahrd. We agreed that we’re both probably to tahrd and grumpy tonight so we’ll ummm… “welcome” each other home tomorrow.
I know I said I’d comment on posts later but see tahrd above. So, yays, boos, hugs, kieses, noogies, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s all around as needed. It’s only 5:15 P.M. and I wanna go to bed!
Supper was the last of the veggie-beef soup - quick and yum. I shall knit the night away and hope I fall asleep at a decent hour so I can drag my carcass out of bed at 5 tomorrow…
Thus endeth a long weekend. No more breaks till Christmas, alas.
We took twelve of the Pulcher fry to the fish store and received a $36.00 credit which we promptly spent on corys to clean up after the big angelfish and two Synodontis catfish for the Tanganyika tank.
I bought ribeye for Mrs. Plant v.3.0, and will grill some asparagus and corn. Steak fries in the oven.
What do they put in it, cream cheese? Sour cream?
Ok that’s it had it for the day, I am off to the bar
Cheers all have a Great Sunday, see ya’ll Manday

Who shall begin “The Coasterless MMP; or, The Wrath Of Fairychat”?
Dinner is mesquite chiken boobies, tequila lime rice, and cumin green beans. I’ve been chatting with Hockey Lady:) throughout the day. We exchanged bed pictures.
Flytrap, don’t look at me, I have coasters(and enough hockey pucks to use as coasters.
