But seriously - that “bad divorce lawyer” thing was ridiculous. In fact, supposedly she was a great divorce lawyer, one of the best, but because of the dalliance with Charlie and subsequent estrangement, she turned on Alan and actively cooperated with the other lawyer to make as comically horrible (for Alan) settlement as possible.
The utterly ridiculous part, of course, was Alan accepting this instead of getting another lawyer or suing the pants off the woman for malpractice. But I guess any common sense is defenestrated when comedic necessity is applied.
Sheen was an intolerable asshole, and insane too. Perhaps he (Chuck) though he rather watch it crash and burn than put up with it anymore. I can understand that.
I watched the first 2 episodes this year. Having a little trouble suspending my disbelief about Walton. Maybe I could buy that he was such a child if he was born into money and had eveything handed to him. But he did not get rich till after he was married so he could not possibly be that much of a nincompoop.
Most Hollywood stars are intolerable assholes, and quite a few of them are insane. Chuck’s job is to manage that for the sake of the show. He failed at his job.
One more episode. I’ll give it a last chance but I don’t think I even managed to raise a smile in Part 2 of the first episode. Not funny in the slightest and I don’t really see how the replacement for Charlie could possibly fill his shoes.
