'Tis safer to lie down with a prostitute than to call ones spouse a cow. (Not a proverb or aphorism, just an observation)
About someone who keeps getting himself in trouble:
“That boy can’t keep his shit in one sock.”
Heard it once–never forgot it.
I know old sayings don’t need to make literal sense, but this one is kind of a head-scratcher for me. Is it an extension of “can’t keep his shit together?”
Yeah, it makes no literal sense, but the meaning is clear–there are also a set of sayings that involve pouring piss out of a boot–an action as unlikely as keeping shit in one sock. And it’s got to be a variant on keeping your shit together. (which itself only leads to more questions.)
