Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. There will be morning cleaning, then afternoon sloth and PUPPY BOWL XXII. It’s currently 23 degrees Ferret Height(-5 Centipedes). It’s supposed to start warming up after today,
I read that as Stations of The Crocs. But anyone attepting that would be a shoe-in for Hell.
Yep! Someone’s dropping round from work to feed and play with them a bit (she’s already been introduced), with a few others up for doing the odd day in case of emergency. I know, I’m going on about this trip like it’s an epic adventure, but it’s actully only for a week. One of the other students has a cat, a German Shepherd dog and a horse and goes away a lot, so rats is comparitively easy… A lot of the students aren’t allowed pets due to rental rules, so it wasn’t too hard to find someone.
It’s not actively raining right now, so I’ve been out pottering in the polytunnel. Not long now until the growing season starts.. honest. I do need to clean the cover because it’s getting very green in some bits, and fill up the bed in there, when I can get some cheap compost.
I also found the spade I thought had been stolen… glad I didn’t report it.
I’m torn between doing some more in the garden, going into the shopping centre to get some more stuff for the trip and just slobbing on the sofa for the afternoon.
When I was clearing the path to the shop, I’d occasionally break a big chunk of ice loose and I’d fling it to the downhill side of the path. The way it slid towards to trees brought to mind curling, without the broom. Sometimes Otis would go after it, which was hilarious because of lack of traction! But thanks to the couple of non-freezing days this past week, the downhill part of the yard is dimpled with doggie footprints. No more curling.
Today is starting at 11 Ferrets and we might reach mid-20s, but on Tuesday, they’re promising mid-40s. I was doing some on-line shopping for pellets - none are to be found in our county, except for the crappy ones at Lowes. Tomorrow I’ll call the company we bought the 2 tons from and see what another ton will cost. They do a deal in August but I don’t know the regular price. It it’s not too stoopit high, I’ll order another ton. Since FCD got his stove working again (not a fuse - just something had to be reset) he’s been burning pellets instead of running up the electric bill. So we need more pellets.
I’m going to finish my sewing today - I just didn’t feel like it after doggie school yesterday. I also need to measure the sunbrella scraps to see if there’s enough to make a proper hatch cover. It’s close, but I can’t be positive by eyeballing it. So that’s today’s exciting plans. I should probably rollsuck, too. There are undoubtedly lots of thread bits all over the dining room floor.
Morning, Mumpers! It’s Sunday, and it’s a snowy 17 degrees F outside my cozy window, rising later to 23 ferrets. Many people will be doing foolish things tonight centered around pro football’s Superb Owl game. Millions of dollars will be bet, won, and mostly lost by fans. Modern sports betting technology invites betting on the minutiae of every moment of play, and people do that.
In other sporting news, the Winter Olympics are happening. We watched a lot of curling last night.
Rocker, the existence of nisselue protest hats was a new one on me. I looked it up, and it’s fascinating. The fact that an anti-not-see protest garment from WW II is now an anti-ICE protest garment is doubly interesting. My mind has been duly boggled.
It’s 40F and overcast outside. Our daytime high is projected to reach 50F, and we expect afternoon rain, too.
Pavo, I hope you’re not sore today. I hope the insurance rigamarole goes smoothly, too.
Rocker, so interesting. I saw something on my FB page about these hats and how Ravelry has the pattern on their site.
Nut, I’m glad you found someone to look after the ratties.
Yes, the Stupor Bowl is today, and it’ll sound like Armageddon around here due to the fact that the Seahawks are playing. I have both a Thundershirt and Trazodone ready for Maisie. I’m not looking forward to it, and won’t be watching it either. There was a time I would have been excited about the game, but now I just hate all games because of all the damn fireworks. I sound like a grumpy old lady, and maybe I am, but it’s just ridiculous. Especially now, since the AHs around here let off something bigger than mortars for every single score.
Yeah, so other than trying to keep Maisie sorted, I don’t have any plans for today. Tomorrow I see the doc about my leg/ankle, and we’ll see what’s up.
Time to finish off my coffee and peruse some real estate, I guess. What poor designs will I see today? What will I see in all “all house/no yard” listings? How about ridiculous HOA dues? The list goes on. I’ve seen many houses and lots I like, but none are within my price range. More often, I see a house I like but hate the lot, or a beautiful lot but hate the house.
Alrighty, for those of you still in the freezer, stay warm. All of you take care!
Morning all. Up, pilled, Sunday NY Times has been acquired and am now waiting a couple of hours until it’s time for the Olive Garden visit. The afternoon will be taken up with soccer coaching and refereeing, I may be able to watch the second half of the Tackleball Championship, but we’ll see. 38F now heading to the mid-50’s, so not a bad February day.
And see what the MMP news is…
Haven’t watched any of the Winter Olympics yet outside of catching some of the opening ceremonies at the gym, probably watch some this week but it is not a big deal for me.
BBBoo, some good advice on the medical release.
Been lucky not to have had my car hit in many years; on the other hand I’ve bumped other cars rears twice this decade (at low speed–2-3mph–and minimal to no damage) so I guess it happens to us all.
swampy, I can remember the Stations of the Cross services from my youth, I’m afraid my Cat-Lick memories of it was repetitious and boring, but hopefully they have improved with time.
Nut, I do not believe I have ever heard of a rat sitter, but the world is a very wonderfully odd place so it does not surprise me. And glad you found your spade.
FCM, stay warm.
Taters, best wishes to Maisie on surviving the game antic today. And good luck with the house hunting, you’ll know when the right one comes along.
And time for the Sunday Internettin’, then dinner and soccer. Take care all.
swampy, it’s been forever since I’ve done the stations of the cross. I never did them with a recording.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a whole lot planned for the day. I may check the scores during the game, but really have no interest in watching it.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/46f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s cloudy because the sun fucking hates you. And by you, I fucking mean all of us.”
The battery’s very sluggish, not even enough turn turn the engine over properly, or power the dashboard lights. It shouldn’t be a flat battery, it’s a heavy duty one and it’s less than a year old. It’s very strange that it went from perfectly fine, to almost completely dead, in the space of a few days.
That sounds like a nice way to treat yourself while you’re home alone!
And you managed to exhaust Jolene too. Sounds like you had lots of fun. Did Jolene approve of having houseguests?
red I used to see quite a few guys wearing Utilikilts but not so much these days. a couple of my musician friends wear kilts as they’re entitled to, and I certainly appreciate seeing them!
I am sorry to hear about the bump, and I hope your car is an easy fix. Hopefully you haven’t had any injuries either, we definitely don’t need any of that around here. Good thing there was a handy policeperson around who could deal with it and could clearly see you weren’t drunk.
We are safely home from our trip up north, it was very entertaining, and good to see our friends again. We visited their new house which is a bit of a building site at the moment as they’ve been having it rewired, and are decorating the bedroom, living room and guest room at the moment. They have lots of plans for other work, but it requires professional tradies to do it so that will happen over the next 12 months.
We went out to a few local hostelries, had a delicious curry, and I was back at the hotel and in bed by midnight. The lads stayed out a bit longer but I was ready for my bed. We met up again this morning and got a bus into the nearest big city (the local train between their town and the city only runs every 2hrs on Sunday). We went to get some food at a highly recommended burger place called “All Hopes, No Promises” - food was excellent. Then we parted company as they went off to do some shopping, and we went to get our train home.
Now I’m back in the house, Keith is still not starting, the cats have all been fed, the litter trays are clean, and I have a cup of tea. All is almost well with the world!
That’s how fast a dying battery goes flat. It should still be under warranty, so go to whomever you bought it from and demand a new one.
I made an invented dish last night of pasta with salmon and broccoli in a cream sauce. It was good, but a huge mistake for me. I don’t tolerate milk well at all, and boy did I pay for that. Oatmeal this morning to try to settle things down. Woof.
Good morning, y’all. Our promised all-day rain has become 40-50 ferrets ans partly cloudy, with rain later. Currently predicting wintery mix at the end of the week, which would be good for the snow pack, but we’ll see.
Today holds editing, kittie wrastlin’ welcoming my lovely wife home and a poetry reading. Leter, more editing, catching up with said lovely wife, and starting to clean up the place for a Tuesday visitor.
I do find it interesting that knitted hats are protest wear. With temps in single or barely in double digits they are practical. I have trouble wearing “warm” colours. Reds and pinks are not in my personal colour wheel. The last time I went with black. I guess nisse are warm neutrals as they wear red hats. Nisselue are also being knitted in blue.
Getting ready for commercial watching tonight. I’ll drop off some items in the community room; don’t know if I will hangout there.
I cleaned, dusted and vacuumed. I cahnged out Spot’s litter. I took the trash and recycling to the Big Bin, and got the mail. I’m watching the Puppy Bowl now.
Me: “Spot! Look! Puppies!”
Spot: “Immature loudbeasts? Joy.”
I also nuked some water for some tea, Earl Grey, hot.(The replicator is broken again.)
One team will sports more than the other. The shove arbiter will make a series of incorrect judgements. The crowd will let them know that they produce vacuum.
Thanks, all, for the good thoughts. Still no major pain. Maybe a little stiffness in my upper back, but it’s hard to distinguish that from regular middle-aged-out -of-shape guy pain.
Bippity, I’ll be on the lookout for any brain stuff. I’ll definitely not sign anything definitive until I know something definitive.
Hopefully it can be fixed, but if they total it, it will be very sad. They don’t make the Fit for the US market any more, so unless I luck into a good used one, I’ll probably have to move on to something else. Maybe time to look at hybrid or EV if finances allow.
Anyway, we’re off to a Super Bowl party. I grew up in New England, so Patriots it is. I don’t have high hopes.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then it was back to da cave for a sammich lunch and nappage. I did not record for The Stations of The Cross. I have a tickle in my throat and felt that I would not be at my best to be recorded. The biiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. I will not watch the Superb Owl cause I just don’t care. I won’t watch any of the Olympics cause, again, I just don’t care. I am a grumpy old man, dangit!
Me too. But it has been a promising season looking forward.
I’ve got wings in the oven, cuz I don’t do frying, but I wanted wings.
My back is sore, not looking forward to next week at work. I know I have at least 2 days of working at a really uncomfortable height.
