Annd, we’re off to crazy town!
Why do we have to pretend they hate everybody? You know who they hate.
It’s the White Supremacy Party. It’s nothing else but that.
I agreed with the stand against police abuse on my BLM posts
Two things I’ve been pondering:
- “The Third Wave was an experimental social movement created by California high school history teacher Ron Jones in 1967 to explain how the German population could accept the actions of the Nazi regime during the Second World War.”
When you watch the Trump loyalists, you really DO feel like you’re watching that dynamic in action … again. It’s as profoundly shocking as it is unbelievable.
- Comparisons to the BLM protests (/riots) are interesting and inevitable. But – like so many things Trumpist vs. everybody else – these unarmed black men actually were killed by police.
The Mueller investigation proved the impropriety of Trump’s actions vis-a-vis Russia/Ukraine, and created a strong case for Obstruction (while Trumpists insist it ‘totally exonerated’ him).
So … like just about everything else … what the Left accuses Trump of … he’s generally been inarguably and incontrovertibly guilty of. And if that bar is too high for you, there’s been no lack of solid evidence that points to his guilt.
But these MAGAt inbreds … have based their violent and seditious acts on just the latest Birther Conspiracy promulgated by the CFSG himself and contrived from PCP, fairy dust, and vaporized excrement.
As I said on another thread, “conservatives will buy bullshit made up from whole cloth if it sounds good to them.”
That’s such an incredibly deep-rooted and complex problem …
Except that Congress immediately went back into session and did their job, which was to certify the results of the election for the winner. Seems like rule of law worked just fine.
So I’m a child for thinking an attempted coup was allowed is drama queen territory? Yeah sure it failed this time. But what about the next time after everyone has seen its possible to storm the capitol and just go home after to overturn an election and then just go home after.
Yes now, with just the backing of the police. Everyone just has seen that they just got to go home, doors held open for them on the way out.
What’s the next tyrant going to do after seeing there is no consequence after this.
I’d much rather the de-escalation and let them throw their white supremacists hissy fits and then arrest, try, and convict them later than the violence and hatred that occurred when the police and military attacked the BLM protests.
This country survived Kent State, Watergate, and a fucking Civil War. It will survive a bunch of white supremacist assholes pretending they’re in charge for a few hours.
Someone managed to get comments from her husband, and he said something along the lines of “I don’t know why she would do this.” She was, I suspect, another example of a person sucked into the QAnon-Trumpist cult to such an extent that it was breaking up her family. There’s a lot of families and friendships being torn apart by the new fascism.
No, they wouldn’t be easy to re-educate. Especially considering that the first education didn’t even take.
I would add to that list the internment of the Japanese-Americans and Hoover’s FBI.
One the one hand, you’re right, on the other hand, I think it’s important for the police to treat protestors equally, rather than routinely getting it correct with White protestors and wrong with Black protestors.
I think they got it wrong both ways.
They assault black protesters for protesting.
And they let white “protesters” assault the Capitol.
I put that in quotes for a reason. As soon as they crossed the fence line, they were no longer protesters, they were insurrectionists, they were terrorists, they were the enemy of our country. They were not there to address their grievances to the government, they were there to take over the government by force.
I also noticed that those who stormed the Capitol haven’t been referred to as “thugs.” Neither has the female Air Force veteran who was (tragically) shot and killed in the process.
You haven’t heard the oft-repeated, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes” or “live like a thug, die like a thug” mantras.
Hm. Quite the head-scratcher, huh ?

Modern history all started with 9/11. We wouldn’t be here now without it, Trumps platform is partly based on it. I can say I’ve now seen government fail twice in one of their main core responsibilities, and I’m 49 years old.
We have clear photos of L.E. standing down now. Taking down the barriers, taking selfies, letting the MAGA in and holding the door for them on the way out after Trump told them it was over for the day in a fucking tweet.
We know they could have kept them out of the Capitol if they wanted to. You think they would have been able to get past that line of cops in the BLM photo?
Why didn’t they have that wall of cops for MAGA? You may not want to see, but it is seen and people will act based on these facts.
It is clear now that there is no rule of law.
^ You may want to lead with that next time
Actually, “thugs” is exactly what McConnell called them in his speech last night. It’s probably the first thing he’s ever said that I agreed with.
Totally.
Happy to hear there’s an exception.
But … ISTM … it’s an exception, nonetheless.
Kinzinger calls for invocation of the 25th Amendment.
