A few things things I’d like to see in the wake of the Beer Belly Putsch:
- Trump’s entire cabinet resigning in disgust
- Trump immediately impeached (or wait two weeks and prosecute him for sedition once he no longer has the protection of his position)
- Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and other Republican senators and reps, as appropriate, voted out by landslides at their next elections (I’m against punishing them for objecting to the EC tallies as this seems to be allowed under Congressional rules)
- Mitch McConnel and Mike Pence forever remembered mainly for their enablement
- Something, I don’t know what, but for the love of Og, something to be done to hold the political “press” (not just the right-wingers, although they clearly seem to be the worst) accountable for their lies, misrepresentations and incitement.

Lastly, I read a couple of posts on one of the threads yesterday saying that mobs of Trumpites were supposedly headed for the Capitols of several states. I haven’t seen anything in the mainstream press about this, and nothing newsworthy seems to have happened. False, rumor?
They were certainly in Georgia and Texas. I saw an interview with some woman in Austin last night, typical MAGAt yammering about saving America.

If Hawley gets beat it won’t be by a landslide - a lot of anti-abortion conservatives in Missouri who wouldn’t vote for a Democrat if you held a gun to their head.

The problem is that they think the same of all who support Biden/Harris. I don’t know how to overcome that.
Unfortunately my parents are Trumpers and it’s really tearing me apart. They wouldn’t go to the Capitol and tear things up or bring guns - I’m not sure whether or not they would do it if they were a bit younger and more agile and had the time and money to travel there.
They were pretty nonchalant about yesterday’s events. The BLM protests scared them to death, but Trumpeters storming the Capitol barely registered a “huh” on the react-o-meter. They don’t notice that they have slipped so far to the right and become conspiracy theorists too. They do believe COVID is real and probably Hillary isn’t a secret pedophile, but otherwise they’re all in that there was voter fraud and the Deep State is out to get Trump. 
Nothing I have ever said to them, and I have TRIED, has ever or will ever make any difference to them.
This is to say that I don’t know how to fix this when the two people I’m closest to are so fact resistant.
Oh, and also any Republican that repudiates Trump is just a RINO or secret liberal in their eyes. The only correct way to think is to agree with Trump about almost everything and just wave away the few things he says that they think of as hyperbole.
I wish trump could be impeached or 25thed so he wouldn’t be able to issue pardons for the crazies.
It would be kind of asinine to kick out Trump then abandon your post for the last two weeks, actually.
And if trump is not removed in the last two weeks, it doesn’t seem like a very good idea for his entire cabinet to resign and leave him all alone with the nuclear codes.
It’s not like there aren’t replacements all ready to go. The transition can just start a bit early.

Same here, almost my whole family in fact.
I have not discussed yesterday’s events with them, as I don’t know what good could come of it. I like to think that those events may have swayed them, but I doubt it, and see no personal benefit to having that confirmed.
Exactly, we are always told that we just need to understand them better, to talk to them, to get where they are coming from. We’ve done that, and after talking to them, we understand that they are coming from fucking crazytown.
There is never an effort asked of them to understand our side, never asked that they reject their delusions, only that we need to find a way to compromise with them.
Yeah, I’m in Ohio, and they absolutely loathe DeWine for not being an unquestioning Trump toady.

And yes, it is wishful thinking that the Republicans would come to their senses, that Pence would go ahead and appoint Biden’s nominees. But that whole list given was wishful thinking in the first place, Trump’s cabinet is not going to resign or 25th him.
We will just ride out the next couple weeks, hoping that our country and our democracy manages to survive until then.
I not a BLM fan as I said in other posts but I can see that what happened yesterday was way different then what BLM was doing.
They need to invoke the 25th first.

I feel for you guys who have Trumpist family members. I have a few in the extended family but thankfully all my close ones are at worst apolitical and most are anti Trump.
