I’m arguing with a family member and my google-fu is weak.
Would someone link to the Trumps tweet(s) that encouraged the rushing of the capitol building?

I don’t know of any tweets, but a few hours before the attack on the Capitol, Trump gave a speech outside the White House encouraging his supporters to march to the Capitol–and also claiming he would be going with them (which of course he didn’t do)–but without, in so many words, telling anyone to “storm” it or “break into” the building. Details courtesy of Snopes.
Oh. Okay. Not sure what optician sold you those glasses with the impressive rose tints. But I’ve been seeing much more stark evidence of how unhealthy the condition of the rule of law has been in for a very long time, like forever, during this past year.
The fact that we have a thug in chief who has empowered and goaded on an attack on Congress itself should not be minimized. But the problem is not anarchy or a lack of rule of law. This is not a collapse of our system of government. This was not just a failure of crowd control but neither is it a sign of end times.
In terms of the failure of rule of law the systemic and endemic issues of law enforcement that have been ongoing are the bigger deal.
It wasn’t a tweet, but a speech he gave to the insurrectionists. No time to look for it specifically, but it is shown in this Stephen Colbert clip.
I’ll try to find cites, but 2 protestors had heart attacks, and Emergency workers couldn’t get to them. The other accidently tased himself and died.
No idea as to the accuracy…
The “Hold my beer” Putsch.
And to add to what I said above: Pretty much since November 3, Trump has been lying and claiming that he won the Presidential election, and that the election has been “stolen”.
That’s a lie that will inevitably have consequences. It’s one thing to tell people that, say, NASA faked the Moon landings. Someone could believe that the Apollo program was a hoax and–even though that’s a totally idiotic belief–still lead a pretty normal life, hold down a job, and so forth.
But if people believe that a national election has been stolen by an evil cabal of Satanic baby-killers–which is the sort of bizarre nonsense peddled by the “QAnon” crowd–then people are eventually going to be motivated to go and Do Something. These sorts of lies have been actively spread by the President of the United States, for his own narcissistic ego-gratification, or desperation to hold onto power in the face of inevitable criminal prosecution and personal ruin post-Presidency, or both. He has been aided and abetted in this by a substantial portion of the Republican Party establishment, mostly for appallingly cynical reasons. It was pretty inevitable that there were going to be consequences to all that.
You asked a question loaded with straw, and expected a serious answer?
But yes, as I said, January 6th was a big blow to our principles of democracy, law, and everything about the peaceful transition of power in this experiment of self governance.
I didn’t say things were perfect before, absolutely not. I never said anything about halcyon days or any of the other bullshit that you falsely attributed there.
As I said, it’s an uphill battle that has to be fought daily. We have, over the course of history, been working our way up that hill. This was certainly a setback.
I didn’t say that it was. I said that we took a beating here. We may have emerged victorious, but we are weaker than we were a day before.
Yes, and what happened on the 6th was a symptom, not the cause, but the symptoms of a disease are what actually kills you.
Latest reports are that the Capitol Police officer who died succumbed to injury caused when a protester hit him with a fire extinguisher.
This was a murder, aided and abetted by our President.
“Blue Lives Matter - unless they get in my way!” - Trump Supporters, probably
Apparently Pence is a Pedophile deep-state member now, too. Saw something where the Q-anon crowd is claiming that since Trump ran him down during his speech to the crowd.
Trump essentially put his own Vice-President’s life in danger, not to mention Pelosi, Harris, other members of Congress, staffers, press, and police officers.
Remember when his phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State was his low point in attacking democracy?
I fear we will soon be saying, “remember when encouraging some morons to storm the capitol was his low point in attacking democracy?” unless he is removed from office and the terrifying hold he has on his supporters is shattered somehow.
If the Obamas’ motto was, “When they go low, we go high,” Donnie’s is, “Yeah, I went low that time, but you ain’t seen nuttin’ yet!”
An uplifting note…
In the aftermath of Wednesday’s deadly mob attack on the Capitol, Rep. Andy Kim (D-N.J.) stayed in the building until early Thursday morning to help clean up the debris left by pro-Trump rioters.
The New Jersey Democrat, who was in the Capitol until 3 a.m. on Thursday, was photographed cleaning up water bottles, flags and cigarette butts in the rotunda.
“There was trash and debris everywhere, broken furniture and broken flags, coats and gloves, cigarette butts and car keys. Trump flags and random bits of food. There was some body armor,” Kim said in an interview with GQ. “This was probably the worst condition that room has ever been in. It broke my heart—I almost started crying.”

Kim, a second-term lawmaker representing a district that voted for President Trump in 2016 and 2020, said he first cleaned for an hour-and-a-half before going back to the House for debate the debate on Pennsylvania’s electoral votes, which were being challenged by dozens of Republicans.

I agree. His Twitter video yesterday was his scripted response to his latest crisis, but he has a habit of undercutting his conciliatory language almost immediately.
I doubt an Air Force security person would misunderstand the gravity of her action.
Virtually everything he’s ever read off the TelePrompter screams of him having a gun pointed at his head (ignoring for the moment how clearly it points out what a functional illiterate he is).
The Chairman of the Association of United Gibbons has released this statement:
“WhoooooOOOOP! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!”
The Chairman then left the press conference without answering questions.
In this case, electrodes attached to his balls. (Tiny electrodes.)
