US Capitol under siege

Is this a whoosh? The singer is Canadian. His name is actually Andy Youakim. Andy Kim - Wikipedia

The politician is Andy Kim (politician) - Wikipedia

Yes, it is a whoosh. Pretty good one, too.

Whoosh me gently
Whoosh me slowly
Take it easy
Don’t you know
That I have never been whooshed like this before

As an earworm, that song has a half-life of about 36 hours. If you people keep refreshing it …

Therefore, anyone else who broke into the Capitol is an accessory to murder. Every single one of them should be so charged.

it blew my hair back

He’s just trying to make sure there’s an orderly transition. I sense a cabinet role coming up!

Singer, songwriter and sedition clean up crewmember. A Renaissance man.

All hail Andy Kim!

Ain’t good! Ain’t right!

Underlining mine. Color me mystified by all the acronyms. I’ve never seen the show.

But did no one in charge at the production company think about what that underlined acronym means?

In the criminal justice system, crimes against peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are considered especially heinous…

Is that a real L&O? I can’t find reference to it

In the sandwich world, there are two separate but equally important toppings: peanut butter, which provides a rich, nutty taste; and jelly, which adds sweetness. These are their stories.

I have ‘Peanut Butter Jelly Time’ as a ringtone for my brother.

Trial By Jury. L&O:TBJ, My acronym reflects my opinion of the show.

It’s the show Lennie Brisco was on after mothership, where he “went to the DA’s office and pick[ed] up a couple investigations.” Jerry Orbach died while the show was on.

Indeed!

Well, we wouldn’t want them to starve. Three months from now we’ll give them $1,200, and if they’re still out of work 9 months after that we’ll give them an extra $600. That should hold them over.

And the fact that President Trump sent them and didn’t go along is irrelevant in my opinion. Charlie Manson stayed home the night of the Tate murders but was still convicted.

As I understand it, she was looking into a space with five men with loaded guns point at her/the mob, all of them warning that they would shoot anyone coming through the door.

She proceeded to start climbing through the door.

She was shot.

I actually bothered to find unedited video of the event. There was a look of surprise and shock on her face. I think somewhere in her mind she saw herself as the hero of an action movie, one with Plot Armor, and she had just discovered that no, that’s not a real thing…

But yeah, suddenly the mob behind her were a lot less eager to move forward.

Despite the satisfaction I would get from seeing a whole lot of these assholes in prison, I’m going to disagree with you here. I think that people should be prosecuted for the things that they are reasonably responsible for. While crimes like accessory and felony murder serve useful purposes in holding people accountable for their actions, they are often overused by prosecutors in cases where they really aren’t justified.

Federal prosecutors have a long history of massively overcharging, and of handing out draconian sentences in cases where they aren’t warranted. I think that fixing this system is, or should be, a big part of the criminal justice reform that we’ve been talking about for the last few years, especially since the killing of George Floyd. Even Erwin Chemerinsky, one of America’s most respected constitutional scholars and a real political progressive, and someone who believes that Wednesday’s actions were a disgrace, has been cautioning against the impulse to pile on charges where they aren’t appropriate.

Yep. There’s no way anyone can reasonably make the argument that she wasn’t warned, and she certainly seems to have received more leeway than a whole bunch of victims of police shootings that we’ve discussed previously on this message board.

This Washington Post page has a video, almost three minutes long, that quite clearly shows the lead-up, the shooting, and the aftermath.

Shh. Don’t let them hear that! I hope to hell whoever is interrogating these goons floats the idea of a murder charge if they don’t cooperate.

Not sure if this has been updated, but last I heard/read on the deceased:

  1. Some idiot managed to accidentally taze himself in the balls, which prompted a fatal heart attack (not sure if that’s 100% true in all details, I’ve just been seeing it a lot).

  2. Another guy just up and had a stroke. Probably too many cheeseburgers over the years prior to storming the castle Capitol.

  3. A woman who showed up carrying a Gadsden/“Don’t Tread on Me” flag was trampled to death in the crowd. Karma brought her sister Irony along on that one.

  4. Another woman, despite 5 men with drawn guys telling her that they would shoot if she came through a door, went through a door and got shot.

  5. A US Capitol Police officer was severely beaten by the mob, including head injuries (allegedly with a fire extinguisher as a club) and died of his injuries the next day.

Let’s hope it stops there, and that no one was left permanently maimed by this mayhem.
