VA state quarter - WTF?

Has anyone seen the Virginia state quarter yet? I bought one of those cheesy maps for $5 that you can stick the quarters in and the map says VA was supposed to debut in 2000. So where the heck is it?

I’ve got dozens of SC, but no VA. :frowning:

Last I checked, 2000 ain’t over.

We’re coming out (um, such as it is) in the next four weeks or so.

I’m lookin’ at it right now. Three tall ships, “Jamestown 1607-2007 - Quadricentennial.” Right snazzy looking, one of the better designs. Did I mention this is a picture in a magazine? Har har har! I’m guessing VA will be out any day now.

Virginia, being the 10th state, will have its quarter issued at the beginning of the last fifth of 2000. That’s the last 73 days of the year, which began, oh, today.

So unless you live right outside the mint, have a little patience! :D:D

Incidentally, any of you east-coast folks want to trade some Philadelphia-minted state quarters for some from Denver? You can tell them apart by the little “D” or “P” mark on the Washington side. Not many Philadelphia quarters filter down here to Texas, and my dad wants to collect ALL the state quarters. It’d be a big help.

Hey, they stole the ship off of the Canadian dime.

A report on a local news radio station stated that there was a problem with the original die used to cast the Virginia quarter, and therefore production is expected to be delayed by a few weeks. Expect to see the quarter come early December.

[sup]And when you can see a quarter come, you’re watching some really bizarre porn.[/sup]

John Hate to ruin your day.

We got VA. quarters in our coin shop tonight. Selling them for 50 cents each/ $15 per roll.

My guess is you heard a rumor-type thingy which comes with each quarter release.

Oh, yeah. Hope that was not a literal statement. Coins are struck, not cast.

Max, YES! I’m collecting them, too, in the vain hopes that I’ll have a kid to enjoy collecting them with when the Alaska and Hawaii quarters come out in the next decade. But, being in Maryland, I’ve only encountered one Denver quarter (Massachusetts) so far.

E-mail me.

I got a VA quarter from the P mint in my change today at a movie theatre here in Rockville, MD.

And, Max Torque, if you’re reading this, I’ve managed collect P quarters for your dad for these states:

New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Delaware.

I’m in Washington state. I was actually convinced that there was no Philadelphia mint. That it was all a great plot and that the government was conducting secret experiments that used a lot of water and energy in the building that formerly housed the mint. After all, who would ever know?.. (My imagination tends to run away with me at times.)

I didn’t see a single Philadelphia coin until June, and now I’ve still only seen 4 total.

Does anyone know about how much I’d have to pay for last years coins?

Well it depends on the grade you want them in. If you’re looking for standard production strikes, most coin stores will sell them in MS-6x (high grade) for .50-2.00 each. You can get a proof set (super high grade not-for-circulation) of all five quaters for around $30.

I feel compelled to add that any coins below MS-63 will probably be worth $.25 for a long time to come…
