Valar Hiatus: The Game of Thrones offseason thread

GOT’s S7 will be seven episodes; S8 (the last) will be just six. Ugh - I have a feeling it’s going to feel 'way too rushed: 'Game of Thrones' creators: Final season will only be six episodes

This may have been covered, but any word on if they’re getting direction from Martin on the upcoming seasons, considering he hasn’t written the books yet? I’d hate to find out that no, Arya has not made it home or that Jon Snow really is dead.

Yes, Martin laid out the whole thing to them at the very start. He has said that the books will end up in the same place but may not take the same road there. Also, Hodor’s origin came from Martin.

New promo for this season.

Lots of discussion about what throne Danys is sitting on during the trailer. Looking like Dragonstone, the home of the Targs, and previously ruled by Stannis, though I can’t recall if he was ever seen on the actual throne…

The PBS series Wolf Hall, set during the reign of Henry VIII, has some stylistic similarities to GOT and features a number of alumni from the show, including the actors who play(ed) Jojen Reed, the High Sparrow, Maester Qyburn, and Iron Bank official Tycho Nestoris.

Currently airing Taboo also has a bunch: Nestoris, Talisa, High Sparrow, Salladhor Saan, Mace Tyrell, Hugh of the Vale (the guy who gets his neck perforated by the Mountain), and (apparently minor) the Spice King. It’s not medieval though.

What is Arya wearing?

Promo pics for season 7 from HBO. Lots of speculation going around about these.

Tormund giving Brienne the googley eyes amused me greatly. Everyone is wearing heavy dark clothes, probably because winter came.

HBO is developing four potential spinoffs to GoT. There’s no timeline yet.

Maybe we’ll finally find out what happened to Gendry?

More on that: 'Game of Thrones' spinoff in development at HBO

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s based on the “Dunk and Egg” novellas: Tales of Dunk and Egg - Wikipedia

Martin says that a 5th “spinoff” is in script writing/talks. Again, 5 potential spinoffs.

He also says that Dunk and Egg will not be one of the 5. Surprising, but I guess he wants to do more with that first/ Neither will Robert’s Rebellion, which I guess is understandable, that wouldn’t be my first choice.

If it’s not Dunk and Egg and it’s not Robert’s Rebellion, that leaves The Princess and the Queen for adapted material based on a story, rather than world-building in the World Of book.

Unless we get the wacky adventures of Lady Stoneheart.

New trailer out today. Looks pretty freakin’ aweome.

Hordes of Dothraki Screamers! Dragons! Unsullied fighting in a town somewhere!

The plot probably won’t make a lick of sense but hell it sures looks Epic.

Speculation is that the Unsullied are fighting Lannisters at Casterly Rock.

Of course!

Dany and her army will sail all the way around Westeros to take the Lannisters in the rear?
