Valar Hiatus: The Game of Thrones offseason thread

It’s plain who will win the Game of Thrones.

After all…what did Dany see on the throne in her vision in the second season?

Or maybe it was just in the throne room

Those were warlock-created/inspired visions, not actual visions of the future. They were meant to placate her to stay with the warlocks. The destroyed iron throne was nothing worth fighting over, and if she stayed, she could be with Drogo again. It was manipulation.

Remind me - did it show her on the throne?

Snow. There was snow on the throne.

As for being warlock inspired. Possibly, but it did appear as it is, and she had never seen the throne before.

No, it showed a destroyed throne room with snow falling onto the throne.

Edit: You can’t reconcile Drogo and her unborn son being alive and well with the idea that it was predicting the future. It was all part of the same manipulation. They were saying “forget your dreams for the throne, it’s doomed. Stay here, where you can be with your husband and son”

She might be seeing them cause she’s dead in that future

…or you could be right and my prediction comes true accidentally. I’d put money in a betting pool that Jon survives to rule alone in a pyrrhic victory and she doesnt.

See post 870.

I added it up and then divided by 120minutes - the length of a rather long feature film. It comes very close to being three full-length films.

While I would very much prefer a good deal more GOT, I confess that viewed that way it seems like enough time to tell almost any story.

The operative words being “would have” as in, “if he ever would have written the final two books.”

My money says Dany will survive long enough so she can have a miracle baby with Jon and miracle baby will somehow win the game of thrones and go on to become “the stallion who mounts the world.”

I have no idea how they can pull this off but I have bad feeling this is the direction things will flow.

So… a visual pun?

Just saw the 2012 dystopic sf shoot-'em-up Dredd, with Lena Headey (Cersei) as Ma-Ma, the scarred ex-prostitute head of a drug cartel:

IIRC it was unclear if it was snow falling on King’s Landing, or ashes.

I could see Dany dying and Jon with a Pyrrhic victory. Almost any victory has to be, right? GRRM isn’t writing about a happy ending, although I could see the show ending being happier than what he had in mind.

Also, Dredd was awesome.

It’s pretty clearly snow. Watch when she walks outside at the end.

But I don’t think they’d use a pun to foreshadow Jon’s ascension to the throne. If it is meant as foreshadowing, I think it’s more likely to show that winter (and an ice dragon?) will come to King’s Landing.

Well, when she goes outside, she’s at the Wall, not in King’s Landing anymore. No surprise there would be snow there. But I agree it sure looks like snow in the Iron Throne scenes.

HBO is just fucking with us. They have changed the length of episode 3 from an hour to an hour and 22 minutes on their schedule.

They decided to add commercials. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow! Thank you for sharing this. Emilia Clarke is a full-on badass!

So 432 minutes total. That’s nearly four rather long feature films.

I have realized for a while there are 2 types of Song of Ice and Fire fans (well, at least), but now I have a way of succinctly saying it: Those that loved “Fire & Blood” (ie, the GRRMairillion) and those that hated it / don’t care about it. I’m about halfway through and am loving it! Though I’ve always been a massive fan of the world building, just as much (if not more!!), than the current story we find ourselves in. It’s just a great history of Westeros with some fantastic characters (HBO could make quite a show from the Dance of the Dragons period).
