Valar Hiatus: The Game of Thrones offseason thread

I just wish he’d spent all the time he spent working on that, and actually, y’know, *finished *ASOIF.

I think most of the hate is due to the fact that fans want him writing winds of winter instead. Anything else he does is going to be hated by a lot of his fans, specially if its GoT related.

I’m sure that most of the Fire and Blood book was basically already written as background material by GRRM for the ASOIF series. He just cleaned it up a bit. Which is far easier than figuring out / writing himself out of the pickle he has created.

Though I’m talking more of the folks that started reading it and hated it because it was too slow/dull/dry, etc.

Maisie Williams was making some talk show rounds this week and accidentally let out a major spoiler about a major character death. Watch at your own peril:

[/QUOTE] Everybody knows by this point that *most* characters will die in the final season. Just knowing they die probably isn't a major spoiler. The spoiler would be if they told you when or by whom (or what) they are killed.

I bet a lot of these “slips” are scripted for PR reasons. Not that GoT is in danger of losing anyone’s interest at this point. But hey, they still advertise Coke too.

This one was clearly (to me, anyway) an April fools joke.

Even though I knew it had to be fake, She really sold it! Have they ever given an Emmy for a talk show skit?

So much this. Except I didn’t catch it, she totally got me. It wasn’t until she left the stage that Fallon’s poor acting clued me in. Maisie gets the trophy - first time in several years somebody got me with an April Fool’s joke.

I’m organizing a GOT S8 pool (who lives, who dies, who rules, who becomes a wight). PM me your email address by noon EST Sat. if you’d like more details.

I knew it was fake when I saw it because of the date. Even so, as soon as she lets slip the secret she looks completely believable. She is trembling, her eyes are watering, she seems scatter brained as she processes what just happened… And then she runs off the stage. I totally forgot about April Fools and just felt pure sympathy for her. Bravo to the acting! Like you said though, Fallon broke the spell before the reveal, but for a moment there I was hooked!

DesertRoomie has started watching on Netflix The Worst Witch, a sort of a distaff Harry Potter. About the second episode she commented, “That girl looks familiar.” I walked over and studied a moment.

Lyanna Mormont.”

Actually, even what she said is a slight spoiler because now we know:

that Arya won’t die in at least the first two episodes.

Once she started asking about if it was live it was obvious it was a joke, because of course these shows are all pre-recorded. Even if she had flubbed in front of a live audience, they would never have broadcast it.

I found it interesting how much she looked like an anti-Arya, with a fancy pink hairstyle. At least she was wearing black.

Well it look’s like HBO has a bunch of spinoffs ready to go.

I still think Varys is more than what we see. A Targaryen? The one destined to become Azor Ahai? Both? Not a eunuch at all, which will make Tyrion’s questions about it hilarious.

He may end up on the throne for all we know.

I haven’t seen any reviews, but to my mind Kit Harington showed some real character-actor skills in his Saturday Night Live stint. He’s got a future beyond leading-man roles.

An early sketch about a Nephew Pageant, with aunts presenting their favorite nephew, did not feature GoT content—as virtually any viewer would have expected. Harington was good in it nonetheless.

I just looked at the “Who will rule Westeros?” market at Sky Bet and I wish I hadn’t, as the clear favourite by a mile is someone who I would have thought a 3rd string choice

Bran

Who knows if Sky’s traders are making educated guesses or have been given private information?.

they could follow the idea of another hit HBO show and leave the ending up to the viewer. They could even add a guy in members only jacket

Hmm. I knew he was trouble when I first spotted him hanging around Winterfell…
