ick!! I tried it a few days ago. Once you get used to it it’s ok but it’s too sweet for my tastes.
I live in Atlanta, and work at a large corporation on North Avenue. Vanilla Coke[sup]tm[/sup] is available here.
I think Vanilla Coke[sup]tm[/sup] is wonderful. I enjoy it, and I recommend it to all my friends. Vanilla Coke[sup]tm[/sup]: it’s the other Real Thing.
And, I’ll be conducting an experiment soon. I hypothesize that rum and Vanilla Coke[sup]tm[/sup] will taste just like Malibu rum and Coke.
I’ll post my results to the Board.
Um … Fiver, shouldn’t it be “the other Real Thing™?” Don’t worry, I won’t tell the boys upstairs.
I used to get vanilla cokes all the time at Friendly’s. I’m not sure if they still serve them, but one can try there for a sample of the old skool taste. I would think that just about any diner would have them as well. I know I have gotten vanilla cokes at more than a few diners in NY.
Not having had the new Vanilla Coke I can’t compare them, but the ones I used to get at Friendly’s were pretty tasty:)
I’ve tried it here in Washington DC and think it is pretty good. Just wish they would bring out a diet version for us diabetics.
Ehhh, it’s OK. I had one in Kitty Hawk, NC over Memorial Day weekend. I haven’t seen it at home (Harrisburg, PA) yet. Sort of tastes like cream soda. The aftertaste is different, but not too bad.
It’s not a real vanilla Coke, but it’s OK. Much better than that vile furniture-polish flavored crap they’ve been shilling lately.
Why, Fiver, wherever in Atlanta do you work? ( )

The vanilla tastes like the vanilla that Stoli ™ uses in their vodka. I think they should use a more “syrup” flavor. . . I am usually a Mountain Dew drinker, so I am patiently waiting for Pepsi to issue their version. Their “twist ™” is better IMO.
Sick! Why would you drink Malibu with Coke? Why would you drink Malibu AT ALL?!
Yuck.
Anyway, I had a bottle like a week and a half ago. Not too bad, not too good. Worth the $1.50, but I probably won’t make a habit of it. Never tried any “twist” sodas, but I won’t either. It just sounds wrong to me. Cherry sodas are gross, so I make my own with grenadine. That seems to work well.

Oh, you know. It’s just this company where they make some stuff.
Tried it. Not good. A real vanilla coke is excellent, but this won’t make the cut
Guinastasia. You can find (extremely overpriced) vanilla syrup in your froo-froo coffee section, along with the other syrups used to flavor espressos, but it’s probably not quite the same article the soda jerk uses.
I once went to a fancy hand car wash. Among the many extras they included was a choice of artificial scents that they could scent the inside of my car with after they were done. One of the choices was Vanilla, which I thought would be nice.
Two weeks later, when the reek was finally getting out of my clothes, I decided that never again would I get a scented carwash.
Vanilla Coke tasted exactly like that cheap rank Vanilla scent they sprayed in my car. Yuck!

Hmmm did anyone else think this tasted just like regular coke with captain morgan?
Esprix, I usually get my vanilla coke fix at Ruby’s, a chain of diners in SoCal. Are there any down your way?
They do a mean chocolate coke too. Don’t throw up until you’ve tried it!
I love a real vanilla coke. I won’t be trying a factory-produced canned version anytime soon. Why bother? It won’t measure up.
Reporting in from Seattle;
Tried it.
Liked it.
Will, in all probability, do it again.
I like the sweeter taste vis a vis regular Coke.
They do, and I didn’t know they had them - I’ll check it out. Other local diners will do it, although at least once I got a funny look for asking for one. I really thought it was an east coast thing for the longest time, but I’m learning more and more it’s a diner thing.
They said the same thing about the peanut butter hamburger - and they were wrong!

I tried it when I was in San Francisco last month.
Not bad at all. I wish I had taken a couple bottles back to Germany. The chances are pretty slim we’ll get that stuff anytime soon I guess. Any info about availability outside the US? Heck, Mountain Dew is illegal here because there’s some weird ingredient in it.
Really? That is so far out. But if you’ve ever done this, put Mountain Dew in a white styrofoam cup – it glows and reflects off of the sides and looks like radioactive waste pee.
What ingredient do they dislike? Sorry for the minor hijack…
