Here I go again. I should’nt watch the news. :smack:
Transportation Security Agency Viper teams.
How do they come up with these tags? Vipers, with very few exceptions, run and hide in the face of a perceived threat.
Maybe I need a testosterone shot or two to understand.
Peace,
mangeorge
Um, link? Explanation even?
First I heard of them was on the news tonight. It seems they’ll be placing extra Viper teams throughout the country tomorrow because of the events in Glasgow/London. I didn’t know we had Viper teams, much less extra Viper teams. Kind of a scary name though. I’d feel more reassured in they looked less like a bunch of bar bouncers, running around it T-shirts and name jackets, and if instead of Viper teams, they called em ‘Fuzzy Bunny Teams’.
Link? I got your link right her, buddy.
It’s the first one that popped up on google, and might be a little biased, judging by the site name. I didn’t take time to check that.
See Squink’s post too, right up there.
I think the name itself is silly.

I’m for that.
VIPR - Visible Intermodel Protection Response
Here’s your linky: http://www.tsa.gov/
They’d be more effective if they were actually venomous.
Terrorists beware–we’ll bite you!
So many people on the Web have beaten me to the GI Joe joke that I won’t bother.
The Brits run an outfit called Cobra
The name must be an acronym, but I’m not finding it this AM.
Well, while Squink is looking, let’s enjoy a little COBRA humour.
Check this out:VIPER teams, where TSA brings together Federal Air Marshals, K-9 teams, and TSO’s or inspectors at the invitation of local law enforcement, to provide a visible and unpredictable security presence to a variety of surface transportation environments.¡¡!!
COBRA = Cabinet Office Briefing Room A - the room where they held/hold crisis meetings.
I like to think it was originally a joke, but more likely it was macho nonsense from the start.
No it comes form the vehicles they drive.
where do I sign up?
I thought Vipers weren’t designed for atmospheric maneuvers.
Man, that looks like a Cobra!
Fire suppression equipment?
Wiki says they were. Take off and land, anyway. All that wing surface they surely should. Of course they make cool noises in space, too.
Want one?
I’ll borrow yours. ![]()
“Visible Intermodal Protection and Response?” Jesus, how far did they have to stretch before they came up with a name to match the anagram? And after all that, it still doesn’t even work. Where did the ‘E’ in VIPER come from? It’s painfully obvious that the anagram ought to be “VIPAR.” That’s what I’ll call them, too, if I ever see one. “Hey, is the VIPAR team here yet? Are they very far? Are they still in the car? Can they help me open this jar?”
Hell, if we’re just going to add random letters to make anagrams, I suggest that they ought to be called “VISINE PRAIRIE” teams.
Someone please invent a workable cryogenic tube so I can sleep until the United States isn’t a cartoon again.
I’m planning on it.* I have already made a trip back to Factory Five. Go here and you may drool at will.
ETA:* I am planning on building one, I am not planning on your borrowing it. ![]()
