The little flea tries to launch herself onto the miles of clean warm fur, but she gets a nasty bump on the nose. She sighs quietly, remembering the glass box bit, and waves at catmarie.
I’m innocent! Hey, I was, um, er, commenting…yeah, that’s it…I was just commenting on your impeccable taste in flutterbys/dragons. Yeah, that’s all I was doing.
Afterall, just because I was looking at the menu, that doesn’t mean I plan on eating anyone, um, anything.
OK, the deeper I talk, the worse I get into. I’ll just go over to the park entrance. There’s a bunch of lurkers driving in to take the tour, and I spot a convertible. Let’s tear up the roof! Who’s with me? Ah-rooooooo!
sitting and watching Dire Wolf terrifying park visitors and wondering if I should tell the ranger.
Hmmmmn, Yawwwwnnn.
Maybe not
::curls up in the sun and catnaps::
Noticing Pucette waving at me and I cat grin.
Ehm - we might be in a spot of trouble, then. You see, depending on Dinsdales degree of depression, I’m anything from 12 feet from snout to tail and up to about 800 yards long. And apparently menacing enough to make him blow up Luton with a nuclear bomb. But perhaps, being imaginary and all, size isn’t an issue ?

By the way, Kestral, if you’re still here, welcome to the zoo and to the SDMB.
Welcome, too, to Shatzi. The RWP Zoo is a wonderful little zoo, and I’d bet it’s a great place to work. Good luck!
Okay, chinese is on the way, kids…I guess that means more work for me…
sigh It’s lonely at the top.
Perhaps this will be the one time I declare size doesn’t matter.
No other owls on this board anywhere?
I haven’t had a good feather-ruffling in quite awhile.
Damn.
Screech-Owl:
Heh! Actually, her name was Cruella. In the enclosure it was her and a male who was much more pleasant (they were Fish Owls, by the way). Anyway, whenever someone got near her enclosure she’d fly to a branch near the barrier and hunker down real low, hooting in a threataning manner. Then, suddenly she’d strike at the cage wall, grip on to it with her talons, and viciously flap her wings!! Man, she was a killer ;>
Oh, this is bringing back memories now…another interesting little drama at the zoo was between the Bald Eagle and a wild hawk. The hawk was always taunting the eagle, it would fly around and around the eagle’s big pen, diving down at the bars and swooping back up again. Eventually, the two would lunge at each other and lock talons through the bars of the cage! A terrificly ear-splitting screeching would then ensue. Crazy birds ;>
Vix:
Thanks! I actually have never been down to RWP zoo, it’s only about an hour from my house though, so I plan to visit on spring break, I hear it’s a great place
Ooh, ooh! I want Chinese food! Acacia leaf stir fry, with white rice, and seven fortune cookies.
On your way to my feeding area, grab me one of those frozen bananas, too, if you wouldn’t mind.
Shatzi, you humans knew her as Cruella…
Checks in with the Ranger. (Shouldn’t that be Warden/Ranger?)
Gets directions to the Large Asian Feline Habitat.
Ambles through the park, greeting current residents.
Observes astonishingly rapid construction of zoo expansion area over the east wall.
After a brief but decisive discussion over the necessity of presenting ID at the door to the habitat (“But I’m a TYGR! Look, stripes, sharp teeth, devilishly handsome; I’m the whole package!”), he settles onto a large low hanging tree branch, gazes studiously over to the petting area and ponders the screaming[sub]tender[/sub], crying[sub]plump[/sub], whining[sub]succulent[/sub] young human offspring creating such an uproar within it.
He muses thoughtfully and resumes picking the Habitat Doorman out of his teeth.
:remembers comments made by a certain Dire Wolf concerning his special …er… uhm eating habits and thinks:
Bad Wolf indeed.

Wanted: Habitat Doorman
I cant eat chinese food…
You people just need to set up a huge pen full of free-range cattle I can hunt. I’ll kill them quickly, I promise. I only need three or five a week, so it shouldn’t be that hard to maintain
Ruffles wings, lays back down and awaits further petting. Enjoys the presence of his cat friend.
Hello all!!!
Every zoo needs a hippo! We’re the deadliest animal in Africa, ya know.

Yoo Hoo Ranger, no doubt Dire Wolf * needed * that whack because he is a very very bad wolf after all but
:looks side to side and whispers in ranger’s ear:
[sub] I think Tygr might have eaten the doorman and I’m not sure but I think there were a few more kids near that low hanging branch a few minutes ago[/sub]
:much louder albeit shakey voice:
Yes as I was saying that Tyger sure is one complete package—what lovely stripes, such white sharp teeth, and oooh so devilishly handsome. Yes truly a complete package.
[sub]I’m not sweating * too* much am I ? [/sub]
OK, ** Persephone ** can’t be your only paying customer. (Besides, as a goddess, she probably hardly ever carries pocket change). How about me & the missus and Bud & Sis come by for some ice cream and a look at your excellent menagerie. I promise to keep the little rapscallions under control and it will be educational for us all. (Particularly if those darn kids sneak in after 5 to the Petting Zoo.) Heck, I’ll even donate a couple of Gary Larson illustrations for posters.
