The #straightdope IRC channel is frequented by SDMB posters (even I grace the channel every so often) but is not officially affiliated with the SD or the SDMB. It was entirely a Teeming Millions initiative.
Silo, as for never being kicked from chat before, I do remember kicking you out, oh, about 20 times in one evening when you really, really pissed us all off. I even tried to ban you, but you logged off of AOL and back on, thus creating a new IP address, just to get into our chat room once more. You were a persistent little fucker - that, in fact, was the kick message I created especially for you that remains in Ircle to this day: “FUCKER!” This all happened when you were still Michael Masterson.

Well I meant I had never been kicked as Silo. Yeah, when I was a heel I went in there. Actually I didn’t initially cause trouble in there…well until that Auraseer jerk turned everyone in there against me (sometimes my memory scares me!). Then I started playing the game, “you can’t get rid of me.” But I’m not that persona anymore. Naturally there is a wee bit of the BIG BAD BOOTY DADDY in me. I think its cause I eat too much red meat. Anyways (if you all have noticed), I’m not an asshole and I’m not going to go trolling again ok.

You see this is my first message board. I read Cecil’s books from time to time and wondered if he had a website. So I was poking around AOL one day and found the Straight Dope. I spent about two weeks reading all of Cecil’s columns. Then I noticed this message board…lurked around a little bit and decided to become a member—Michael Masterson (my name). (I think this was February)…Well I like TV. Wrestling (I hate to admit it) and seeing how the good guys and the bad guys work the audience I had an idea–now I was drunk at the time and I thought if I were a bad guy I would evoke a lot of responses on the MB. Well you know the rest. One important thing I didn’t understand about the MB back then was the time and effort people put into it. I was just playing games. Looking back it was kinda funny to see what a riot I caused…I didn’t expect that! …But I knew I was driving the mods crazy and I was going get banned soon…so I had the Webmaster delete my (former member) name and came back as Silo (no sock puppets). I did catch wind of complements on my “more intelligent” posts as MM (and that has been my mission…trying to use my brain while on here…although sometimes it doesn’t work). So here I’ve been for the past few months pumping up my post count and fighting ignorance (sometimes my own) and I have probably said more than I usually do but I wanted to clarify with everyone my past and the fact that I am just one of the board (and not an asshole).
