Ma’am, with all due respect, we’re expecting two health reports here. Jojo’s and yours. How are you doing? Do you get sprung soon?
It appears I will get sprung this week.
I’m soooooo happy!
My niece is about to get her assorted animal vet license in Missouri
I’m going to suggest she set her sights a .little further South since you could keep a practice going all on your own.
I’m very happy for you!
Great news! And from the sounds of it, Jojo Cat will be sprung, too! A happy week!
Fair. Spiders don’t qualify because they are (hold on, and follow me closely here) insects! Pay no attention to so-called scientific taxonomies. Pay attention instead to my vague recollection, loosely paraphrased, of the taxonomy suggested by Dave Barry. When evaluating the worth of any creature, the important questions to ask yourself are: (1) is it horribly repulsive, especially when viewed under a magnifyng glass, and (2) does it have way more legs than necessary? If the answer to both is “yes”, then it’s an insect (also known by the scientific term “bug”) and should immediately be stomped on.
lol a konmari approach eh? all you had to do was add … does it bring you joy? if not stomp
Thanks. Means a helluva lot coming from you, Mikey.
And …if you don’t start getting better so you can get in some housing I’m gonna come kidnap you and make you sleep in my ghostly room with the Siamese. (A curse worse than death, I hear)

It occurs to me that both you and Jojo are in rehab and therefore leading a parallel existence. I’m so looking forward to you two getting reunited. Jojo is going to go bonkers when he sees you…OK, more bonkers than he is now.
I said I was going to stop posting about Al Vocado, but I thought you’d want to know, Beck, that I decided to give him one more chance. His leaves are black and barely hanging on. I watered him today because he was bone dry.
What swayed me was 1) the knowledge that YOU wouldn’t have given up on him just because he looks hopeless and 2) when my son called today and I told him about Al, he asked me to keep him informed, like Al’s a pet or a person. I know it’s wrong to anthropomorphize plants, but this one really does have a personality and is a scrapper.
Beck, if Jojo continues doing well, any idea when he’ll get to go home with you?
Well the vet told me he could be released he would just have to come in every few days.
I think they’re ready to be shed of his antics.
But then again no one is really complaining. The vet said he has a large spirit for a little squirt.
Send her up here, we need a vet!
(Not kidding.)
Outstanding news, Beck!!
finest kind of news!
Yes!!
Dealing with a new pet in the house will keep me on my toes.
Best-ist rehab ever.
Actually, bugs (aka “true bugs”) are a subset of insects. If you’re not an entomologist or a pedant, you won’t care. If you are, in order to be a bug, an insect must have piercing, sucking mouth parts.
I’ve always thought that Piercing Sucking Mouth Parts would be a good band name. That’s probably the only reason I remember this.
that would be ticks and mosquitos?
Yeah, and skeeters carry botfly eggs.
I have a mortal fear of botfly larva.
Where’s there?
Finger Lakes New York; nice small town vet practice, located in farm country right near the lakes, in serious need of another vet. One retired, one moved elsewhere, the third (and original founder of the practice) would like to at least mostly retire.
There seems to be a general shortage of veterinaries.
If your niece seriously wants more info, pm me. But I’m going to be away from the boards for at least a couple or three days starting tonight or tomorrow morning.
@thorny_locust , good luck on your procedure.
See you when you get back.
