**Sunny **- I know what you mean. That previous bit of news about him was encouraging, so I dared to hope.
I read that ruble was no longer with us, and I’m grieved. I didn’t know him nearly as well as most of you, so I’m also grieved you’re grieved.
I’m sad for Ruble too.
We just got back from the vet. She said that we may have gotten a bad can of cat food. It could be that it was just that lot. Tonka ate some non-fish gooshy food last night, and didn’t throw up. He’s down to 11⅞ pounds, but the vet says he is healthy. I looked him op on 24petwatch, and his birthday is 3 November, 2003. So he’s 16.
Goo got her vaccination. She’s up to 10¼ pounds. Her birthday is 22 June, 2003.
Just got back from the docs. The first doc, who gave me antibiotic pills, took a look and immediately got me an appointment for the ortho-surgeon. The surgein cleaned and dressed the thumb. And took a sample for the lab. Says it is osteomyletis. Which means there is a bacteria eating my thumb. If this guy goes to the blood, it is lights out for the moon unit. So, it could be serious.
We get the lab results on Friday. Then we will talk about the options.
Mama cat is still big as ever. It is her first, and last litter. Do cats know they are going to give birth? They must know their body is changing.
Well, gonna have a pain killer. Rum and coke.
Thanks Sunnie and ssr for your well wishes.
Yikes, Moon Unit! So the hope is that the antibiotics will keep the infection from becoming septic? I sure hope they wipe out the infection so no further treatment is necessary.
That’s a good question about cats. I suspect they don’t really understand why their bodies are changing, but I’m not a cat expert.
flyboy, that sounds like a good report from the vet on your senior citizens. Cats should get discounts on food, etc. when they get old just like people do.
Hope the appointment went well, Moooom.
Butters, I hope the day flew by and that tomorrow will be better. You need a good night’s sleep and a happy surprise of some sort.
I’ll be on the lookout for an anonymous act of kindness I can do for someone in ruble’s honor.
ERRATA: Goo was born in 2013, not 2003.
I know what I meant to type!
.
I am so sad about Ruble! I had hoped things were lookin’ up. He will definitely be missed 'round these parts.
In other news, we et an early sup/late N.O.L. of Eyetalian chickin, baked sweet N.O.T., green beans and rolls. We have been in lazy mode today so did not leave da cave. I got a call from the doc. They want some blood work, so I shall go see the vampires tomorrow at nine-thirty. ICK!
MOOOOOOM sweet ride for RoxStar!
flyboy I figured that was what you meant. I’m just not fast enough to beat everyone else to the question.
Something weird is going on with one of my credit cards. I got a new one (huzzah), they sent it to me, I have activated it, and I am using it within the credit limit they gave me when I called to activate. I called it today and there’s a balance, but it’s a lot more than I spent so far. My next charge went through OK, so hopefully it will get straightened out.
I had a good visit at the clinic. Got my IV and instructions not to have any foul ups this week. Doc asked me how the offending medicine made me feel. I told him I had no memory of it. He laughed and said, “That’s bad”
It’s determined I can do w/o steroids. So no more of that nonsense.
moon, good luck with the thumb.
Nellie, I am looking for someway to memorialize ruble. I feel so bad for OW.
I love Roxstars new ride. That’s cool!
I made it through the day. I must sleep tonight. I am also feeling a little nauseous for no known reason. Hubs is cooking a huge meal of fish and shrimp with fries and cole slaw and I am not the least bit hungry. I hope I am not coming down with something. I feel horrible that he is doing all that cooking and I just don’t think I can eat anything. I’m sure I will be fine if I can get some sleep.
I am also very sad about Ruble. I was hoping he would be OK.
We were out on the patio (catio), when a strange woman came around the corner of the single-wide next door. She didn’t say anything, and just stood on the first step going up to the side door of the trailer and hid behind a tree. Mrs. L.A. saw her sneak around the back, and we both went out front. The woman said she had just moved here, and she was hiding from her (soon to be ex-?) husband. She said her mother knows the woman who owns the trailer. She said her husband drives a silver Toyota, and I saw a silver Toyota-sized car turn down the hill several minutes earlier.
Anyway, she headed up the street that T’s off of our street, where she said she was living.
I’m so sad about ruble. Like others, I thought maybe he was coming around. RIP my friend.
Moooooom, I’m wondering if they make that ride in grown up sizes.
Good news on the kitteh front Johnny.
I hope that your thumb doesn’t cause more trouble moon unit.
Back from taking my friend to the doctor. The next appointment is in April. It was a rainy mess all day (and driving in traffic in said mess…welllllll… not much fun), so Nelson didn’t get his dog park trip when I got home. Instead, we played about fifteen rounds of fetch.
I assembled Roxy’s “car” as she calls it. Her legs are still a bit short to pedal it, but **FCD **thinks he can drill another hole for the seat and bring it forward. I need to rig up a handle on it, too, so I can push her without having to bend way over. That way, she can learn to ride it even if she hasn’t mastered the pedals yet. Daughter is a bit miffed that we gave it to her already - like Roxy knows the difference…
Speaking of whom, she got home early, so I’m no longer toddler-wrangling. We had baked sketties for supper (YUM) and chillage shall fill my evening.
Regarding ruble, I was thinking I’d like to find out if he had a pet charity, then make a donation in his honor. I hope when things settle a bit, I can ask his wife. But she’s got enough to deal with for the moment.
It’s not been a good news day for sure.
My cousin’s wife’s mother died. The funeral is in Baltimore, I need to look up more information. I only met the mother a few times, but I really like my cousin’s wife, so I should at least go to the viewing.
Her obit was rather interesting, she used to bake brownies for Albert Einstein.
Niece2’s younger kids’ father’s uncle died. I don’t know him but the niece’s kids’ father was close to him.
One of my uncles had a stroke. He’s back in the hospital.
I guess I need to send a bunch of cards, and stop answering the phone when my mother calls.
MoonUnit, hand wounds are not something to mess with.
I need to order groceries to pick up tomorrow.
I haven’t been paying attention to things around here.
It will be a small order though, I hope.
I tired of spending money.
Laundered, got a haircut. It’s raining, so “Princess Pretty Paws” is not going out. drinking a martini.
From my time meeting him, I would suggest touring the women’s room of your local Tiki Bar(make sure your tour guide and half the tour are guys, though:D;)) Or order something weird from Da Jungle.:)*
MoonUnit, just take care of yourself. We’re over our quota of lost Mumpers for the decade already.
{{{{sari}}}}
[sub][sub]*There’s a Mumper in Arkansas who would be overjoyed to get a gross of anvils from his late friend[/sub][/sub]
Well, no need to worry about the viewing or funeral, it was last week.
You’d think we were dealing with the pony express the way the news is traveling through the family lately.
I got a box from da jungle today. 500 tiny brown enveopes. I was thinking of seed packets when I ordered them. Somehow I missed the fact there would be 500ct. :smack: My bad. They are very cute. If you need a few small brown envelopes drop me a PM, I’ll share.
Supper is leftovers. If I can find any. Mr.Wrekker is going out to meet a coupla friends. They’ll eat bar fare. He promised to be home early and sober (long drive).
Have a good evening, all y’all.
As you all probably know, I am a baker and work in a cafe located in the city library. The library does not own it, just leases the space and equipment. At the end of 2019 the owner gave up the lease, and operation have passed to a local catering company.
They made all kinds of promises as to how great things were going to be, but bit by bit they have shown their true colors. What I heard today has broken the camel’s back. Our kitchen manager, that worked for the former owner for thirty years, had had her job taken away and given to one of our coworkers that’s been there just over a year. Not only was the job offered, but she accepted! The former manager has had her pay greatly reduced and was told it was take it or leave it. New kitchen manager is acting like a real hard ass, like she knows it all. She has, according to the former manager, wondered why I should arrive before everyone else, and doubts I am actually working then. That’s an insult that, if said directly to my face, will result in my walking out, without notice, from a job I’ve had for over nineteen years.
I take pride in my work and it’s necessay to arrive earlier to have things done by a certain time. Nobody is going to run me down, especially someone who has only been here a relatively short time, someone we thought was a friend, or friendly at least.
Okay, let’s get the blood pressure down, sorry I am being ranty.
Good evening all. The last of the books are now in the bookcases and all but two boxes (full of empty binders) are broken down, so tomorrow I’ll load up the car and visit Goodwill (donate binders and books) and a local recycle place for all the cardboard boxes.
Also got my Federal Income tax refund, not as much as last year but still a nice chunk of change. And the rain finally stopped.
Still doesn’t make me feel any better about losing ruble, however.
Moon unit, echoing the rest of the MMP, take care of yourself and follow Dr’s orders. I had a piece of wood trimming on one of the bookcases come off an got a very small poke on a finger. Doused it with Hydrogen peroxide and bandages, but after your experience I’ll be watching it closely.
Sari, sorry about your losses in your extended very extended) family.
Moooom, you really don’t know what you’ve let yourself in for now, do you? (re: Roxy’s present).
Sleep well, Butters. I’d sing you a lullaby but it’s against the Geneva Convention for me to do so…
flyboy, hope stalking is all he does. Be careful. And good thoughts about an old cat from me.
Sunny, my credit cards let me go online and I can check any charges against it (I do this at least once a week). Do you have the same ability?
Becks, just how tiny are these envelopes?
Everyone have a good night tonight.
Though learning about rubles cast a pall on this whole day, I’m feeling less discouraged than I was when I woke up.
Moooom, Roxie’s new ride is every child’s dream. Heck, the weight limit is150, so it’s my dream, too! It looks nice and sturdy, too.
Becks, yay on the last infusion!
I like the idea of some sort of memorial for rublse. Making a donation to a favorite charity is good, too. If there’s something we could do for OW, I think he’d have liked that, too.
And the new sneakers I ordered arrived. My current pair has holes in them. I have duck feet, so sneaks that fit are hard to find, and I have to special order them. That means spending more, so I wait until they start falling apart to get new ones. Now I just have to break them in.
