Home again, after a long, hot drive from the wilds of Harford county followed by a short trip to California to get some supper. We’re in veg mode now, but it’s still hotter’n Hades out there.
I helped my mom with a bunch of little chores and she took me out to lunch to a Mexican place. I brought home a box containing 10 fancy teacups and saucers that I’m going to try to sell for her. She said she’d split any proceeds with me. So I need to get them photographed and try to figure out what they’re worth, then price them to go. She also sent a ceramic honey pot with a wooden honey dipper thingie, and an antique jelly plate and spoon on a special rack, plus a big bowl.
If I have any luck selling these, she’s going to have me try to sell her china with the platinum trim - it’s full service for 12 minus one coffee cup. She hasn’t used it in years, so it’s gotta go.
Other than that, nothing exciting. The pool was too hot to be refreshing, so we didn’t bother. I’m just glad to be home and able to sleep in my own bed - her guest bed has such a hard mattress, I had a terrible time falling asleep.
Oy vey iz mir. My feet hurt, my poor tendon hurts, my knees hurt, and I am miserably hot. I am miserable in the knowledge that I am hot and there are window unit air conditioners in the basement under my feet.
Of course, said air conditioners are in the new house, where I am sitting in a lawn chair with my feet up on a kitchen chair. The bedding and electronics are all moved over, so we’ve got a place to sleep, cable television, and wifi. It’s tempting to say “fuck it” and leave all the other stuff over there.
So Airman named the wifi network because he set it up. He named it “SteelerNation” because he is ridiculously unimaginative. I may change it to “QuitLookingAtPornYouLoser”.
The cats don’t know what hit them. Reed is his usual relaxed, laid-back self. Bethany is lying in a box that has my pajamas and a couple of bath towels; she’s probably all over it because they smell like me. Target is wandering around somewhere; she’s been alternating between the living room window and a corner behind some boxes, but she’s off exploring.
My friend Sandy came by with stuffed cabbage rolls that were amazing, whole-grain bread, and a blueberry cream cake, so we had a nice dinner. I brought over some oatmeal and a carton of eggs for breffest, and I’m sure the sprog will nosh on the cake. I also have cream for coffee. I have to go shopping, too.
I think I’m going to wander upstairs to make the bed and crash. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to do tomorrow. But I have cable.
If it was a headache instead of a leg and Plant rather than you I would recommend amputation.
For you I would say get a professional medical opinion.
Had a nice ride and saw some old friends from the old club I haven’t crossed paths with in a while. And got rained on a little which seems to happen to me a lot when I have the bike out. But all in all it was a nice day and a nice tribute to a faller brother.
I still have not installed Windows 10 cause I don’t like change. I know it’s only free for a few more days.
Irked 8 hours today and got a real good start on my spreadsheet. It is the database of all the tickets we sell. It was created in 2012 by me and instead of tweaking it every year I just made the changes to the computer but not the import sheet. That will not happen again. My lead clerk helped and we are both irking on it tomorrow. Hopefully we will finish it tomorrow.
New dishwasher still sitting in the middle of the living room floor. Now I wish I’d just had Home Depot install it for $59. The sink is full of dirty dishes as I did not feel like washing them by hand :eek:. We had take out burgers and fries that were not too good.

Realized I hadn’t posted today. Besides overeating at Red Robin (yum!), napping and mowing the lawn this evening, I mostly tried to avoid going outside in the 95F day.
So blurf it and tomorrow I’ll try to motivate to go shopping for sustenance and perhaps see a movie or two (Ghostbusters and Star Trek are both under consideration).
I don’t like Windows 10. That’s what we’re currently using at irk, but will soon upgrade to 13. I find it tends to add …ummm…random features to Excel and Access databases. Here at home, I run Windows 8 on the tablet and Windows 7 on the desktop and laptop.
Windows 13? When did they skip Windows 11 and Windows 12 while they’re not done forcing Windows 10 on the unsuspecting? Or do you mean Office 13?
I had a frustrating support call on Thursday about some help desk staffers that couldn’t access a key support application. Eventually one of them lets it slip that they’re unable to access it on their Windows 10 computer. Their what? “Um, yeah, we’re testing the new Windows 10 version…”
Dude, you’ve got one of probably twelve Windows 10 machines in the entire enterprise, vs about 400,000 Windows 7 desktops. You could have told us this half an hour ago? :smack:
It’s a cloudy 75 degrees outside, high of 95 predicted for today.
We had some big thunder boomers yesterday, but they didn’t make a dent in the temperature.
I’ve had no problems with Win10, but I don’t like it all that much. Mostly because I can’t find things.
I’ve had disturbing dreams for the last two nights. Not sure if it means anything but it’s annoying.

Butters My friend has had her new washing machine sitting in the middle of her living room floor for the last few days. It’s too wide to fit through the basement door, so she had to get somebody else out to remove the molding from around the door. The delivery people were supposed to show up the next day, Friday. Now they are supposed to come tomorrow. We’ll see.

Back from breakfast. I’ve watered part of the yard, but too much heat already, dammit! I’m just going to toss all the laundry in the dryer because I don’t want to deal with being outside in the hot, humid nastiness. I’ve cleaned the critters’ water fountain - it was pretty scummy.
FCD’s 93-y/o aunt died yesterday, and I’m glad. She had dementia and her life consisted of sitting in a chair in diapers, barely eating, not interacting with anyone. A sad ending for a woman who ran a business for decades… His folks won’t be going to the funeral - neither of them is in any condition to make the trip from Ocala to West Lafayette, IN.
I forgot to mention - when we went to dinner last night, one of the servers was a hipster with a man-bun. Not only that, he was a black guy, so his bun was a perfectly round black puff on the top of his head. It was adorable! He was a very competent and professional server from what I could see (he was handling a couple of adjacent tables) but it was hard to ignore the head puff. Young folks’ styles are soooooooooo adorable.

Just got off the phone with Sis. She should be here around 9 this evening with her pup, Fiona. I’m getting ready to go downstairs to do laundry. I figure two more times after today and laundry will no longer require quarters 8r shoes.
First load of laundry is done, second is in the dryer, third is in the washer. Such excitement!!!
Our Giant Meteor 2016 bumper stickers came! It’s going on the window instead of the bumper so I can removed it when I’m tired of it. So I need to clean the window - at least where I want the sticker to go.
His folks won’t be going to the funeral - neither of them is in any condition to make the trip from Ocala to West Lafayette, IN.
He was a very competent and professional server from what I could see (he was handling a couple of adjacent tables) but it was hard to ignore the head puff.
