Now that would be a huge disappointment, IMO, and lead to a much worse fan backlash than Pietro’s recasting just being an Easter Egg. Getting X-Men into the MCU was a big deal. It would suck if they screwed it up by walling it off in its own side universe.
Really? I haven’t seen all of his work, but he was the only good part of “Knight’s Tale”, IMHO.
I haven’t seen that movie since it’s release, so I can’t remember his performance. His first standout, “who is this guy?” role to me was as Silas in The Da Vinci Code.
Never seen the Dan Brown films, the names alone make my head hurt.
The main role I remember him being serious in was “A Beautiful Mind” and even that had a reasonable amount of humor.
But yeah, first time he showed up in Iron Man, I thought, “That’s Chaucer’s voice.” Even that seemed to have a fair amount of dry humor in it.
He was excellent as Maturin in Master and Commander.
And as Charles Herman in A Beautiful Mind
He’s pretty much always going to be “That guy from Master and Commander” to me.
I will now re-watch that movie with an entirely different viewpoint -
Apart from his height and lack of ugliness, he nailed Maturin perfectly.
I confess, I struggled with the books, and don’t think I actually finished the one I started.
Flashman was much more my speed.
I tried the first Flashman and stopped reading after a certain scene (if you remember the first one, you probably remember the scene I’m talking about). I was a big fan of the Patrick O’Brien books.
I certainly don’t want to derail this thread with an Aubrey/Maturin discussion and get it shut down again (though I hope a Sith Mod outranks a Journeymod 2nd class), but I’d really suggest giving them another try. Get at least to the part in Master & Commander with the cold roast baby.
Yeah, I was making a list of all the Marvel characters that might fit that description, but I think it was just a segue to acquiring a 1990s drone.
If you Google “wandavision, ‘aerospace engineer’”, you’ll find that the fan theories out there are legion. Sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes “no way!”
One of the more out-there (but plausible) theories I’d read was that the ‘aerospace engineer’ could be the Skrull Talos’ daughter, who was seen playing Uno with young Monica in the Captain Marvel film and had a little dialog. Per this theory, this re-introduces the Skrulls into the MCU in preparation for the Secret Invasion Disney+ series already greenlit and in development.
X-men in Wanda’s world? Spidey fighting as an Avenger?
C’mon, comic book heroes, stay in your lane! Spidey, you go to school and swing around and deal with your own villains. Daredevil, echolocate your way around Hell’s Kitchen, it fits you. Luke Cage, Iron Fist, same deal.
You guys are Local Heroes. Sure, you might be tempted to have Claremont or Byrne lure you into a Shi’ar or Skrull spaceship, but you have a “Friendly Neighborhood” to defend.
[/old comic reader rant]
9 posts were split to a new topic: WandaVision first 2 episodes and sitcom approach ranting [for Omni]
modnote: You and everyone else drop this, it killed the last thread. You want to go in-depth with a back and forth on the sitcom premise go start a second thread. This discussion ends now. I probably should give you a warning Omni.
Actually I split this distraction off to its own thread.
This is just a guidance, not a warning. Nothing on your permanent record.
Not to junior mod, but maybe drop it, folks?
…I self-reported as I missed the mod-note earlier.
I’m good as long as they don’t start throwing in characters from Frozen.
