We Gotta Have One, So This Is The MMP

Happy Anniversary to the Soapys!

Happy Anniversary, Soapy!

In other news; The Suburban, which has been sitting in the driveway 'cause we can’t afford to put gas in it, won’t start.
I put the battery charger on it for 1 1/2 hours this afternoon and can’t even get a grrrr out of the starter.
So now all we’ve got that runs is the crappy old Ford Ranger, with the peeling paint. The truck with a dozen things wrong with it, half of which were* designed into it.* :dubious:

I need a drink.

Hiya!

yesterday was a nightmare - got caught up in storms in DC which meant my flight out of Savannah to Dulles was delayed so I missed my connection to LAX. Customer service got me on the first flight out they could which was today but when I got to the airport the check in agents had no record of the re-booking. Grrrr. But I made it home  finally after being up since 11.30PM Friday night Cali time in order to make the 6AM EST flight to LAX I took a nap this afternoon. And I have been in my jammies since I got to the house at lunchtime. I’s tahred.

However my checked bag made it home last night and spent an enjoyable night at the airport waiting for me.

Off to find food…I hate being jet lagged. I feel hungover. I need carbs.

Happy Soap-aversary!

I was happily asleep. Then the cat decided it was time to knead & headbutt me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a pushover for kitty affections, but I WAS ASLEEP!

Happy Soapyversary!

If not sexually active, it should be possible to opt out of period, damnit. To whomever is using two Black’n’Deckers, one with a red-hot bit, to deepen the holes in my tailbone: cut it out!

Grammer takin a cation for ill-feeling overbutt, owow.

Nava - there’s two choices, “the change”, or a cocktail of meds that cause dismensrea (or however that’s spelled)

Well, blah. My bladder woke me just before 4, and my brain didn’t want me to sleep again. I turned on TV and set the automatic shutoff so I could just drift off, but when I started drifting, I had enough consciousness to turn it off myself around 4:30. Scruffy woke me just before 6. It’s grey, gloomy, and I wish I was still sleeping.

Our old solar tube is leaking. We had a bucket under in during last night’s storms. **FCD **wanted to go up on the roof and check it out - in a THUNDER AND LIGHTNING STORM!!!

Who knew I was married to a bonehead?? Luckily, he didn’t try it. I expect he’ll climb up there today, tho.

We had already decided to replace it with a larger one so I sent another email to the contractor who did our roof. Hope he contacts us soon.

Plans for the day? Dunno. Depends on the weather mostly. Then tomorrow starts 12 straight workdays for me - stoopit training exercise. :frowning: On the other hand, this will be my last, provided the RIF does happen and I get the incentive to retire. Fingers crossed.

Happy Sunday! MWAH!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 59 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 79! It’s like Winter out there! Oh and we did not get any of the predicted rain. GRRRRRRRR

The baby shall make her first appearance in church this mornin’. This is Miss Ella the brand new baby daughter of YP and Wife. I predict a fairly large turnout for this. She was a much anticipated birth down at ol’ St. Pat’s.

Other than that I got nuttin’. I shall seek out more caffiene and do sump’n about brekkie as tummy is very much rumbly right now. Also, must purtify for deheathenization!

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Twenty four years of [del]hell[/del]wedded bliss today…

Happy Vunderverssary!

24 years? Now that is a big number!

Congrats, BBBobbio! You’re such a romantic… :stuck_out_tongue:

Household is still asleep. Buncha slugs. I’m going to shower and… well… I’ll figure out something.

Good morning!

Happy anniversary, VBob! And you too, Soapy! I don’t know how I overlooked that yesterday.

'Twill be another beautimous day here in Houston. High of 83°. I don’t get to play much, as I have laundry to do and groceries to get. But I will have the house open!

I’m making a pot roast in the crockpot for dinner, and the boys can feed themselves tonight. I’m going to another distribution for A Simple Thread this evening.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. My account has beeen hacked, sorry about the spam.

Congrats VBob!

That sounds like an amazing organization, Rebo! Good on you for volunteering.

Happy Vunder and Soapy Anniversaries!

Hope all the car and house and sickie troubles are all better very soon.

Hug the baby for all of us, swampy.

Should get up and get going…

Hugs.

Happy 'versaries to the Soapys and Vunders!

Guess what I did yesterday? If you guessed “nearly knocked the passenger-side mirror off the hotel shuttle,” you must have been riding shotgun. Gather 'round Mumpers, for I come bearing a tale…

Yesterday morning, a lady comes up at 7:58 asking for a shuttle ride down to the McDonald’s across the street from the Biltmore entrance where she is meeting friends at 8:30. I tell her it’ll be a few minutes (the shuttle starts at 8 and Detailed AGM went out back to smoke and I needed him to cover the desk.) I finally roust Detailed out of his cigarette and take the lady down to Mickey D’s. The whole way down we’re talking about her son who’s about to be blessed with an infant to go with his toddler and little kids in general. There is no incident. I drop her off and head out of the parking lot to go back to work.

Now, as I’m pulling out of the parking lot, I briefly consider taking the interstate back. However, that takes longer and if I cut through town the way I just came it I can get Detailed AGM off the desk quicker. I am considerate of my co-workers when they don’t tick me off. I cross the bridge and go back towards town. Along the way I notice that the road really needs a good repaving. I hit a couple of potholes. It’s a well-traveled road.

There is a small tunnel near Hippy Hollow High School that opens out into a big curve. As I’m going into a tunnel, a brown van comes up next to me and starts keeping pace. As we’re going around the curve, the van starts to get a little too close to the white dotted line and I move slightly right to compensate. Now comes the fun part: there’s some construction going on right next to the road right along the curve. There are traffic cones alongside the road, the long, tall, skinny kind. They are not all the way out of the traffic lane. The side-view mirror meets one of the cones with a sharp BANG.

I merge into the lane behind the brown van and glance over. I see the mirror hanging out of the side-view and utter A Profanity. I pull over into a parking lot and call Detailed AGM. He tells me to call the police to get an accident report for the insurance. I do so. The officer arrives and checks the damage. He gets the mirror back into the holder and it’s all cracked to hell. You can still see out of it, but it’s like a disco ball. I tell him what happened and he didn’t seem surprised. He knows how people drive around her and probably knows those cones aren’t out of the road all the way.

I get back to work and Detailed AGM calls me Mirror Killer all day. I tell some other people about what happened so that I can be in control of the rumors that will certainly spread around. Detailed texts Big Boss with the details of what happened and he seemed okay with it. I wasn’t drunk, high, or at fault, and the mirror can be replaced in an hour. That doesn’t mean that I won’t hear about it all day Tuesday when I next see Big Boss, though. I most certainly will.

From now on, I will always take the shuttle down the interstate to Biltmore. There’s a bit more room to maneuver around stupid Hippy Hollow drivers and traffic cones there.

Grandma wanted to celebrate the GrandparentsFromHellVersary. Her two daughters (both of which are also widowed, one of them since last year like Grandma) nixed it so loudly I almost heard it without the phone. Mom in particular was pretty pissed that many times the GFHV has been celebrated over, not with, Middlebro’s birthday (Dad used to say each of his children had been born on the anniversary of a big war action - in order, the Anschluss, the GFH’s wedding and Lepanto). Not that Middlebro planned on celebrating, and he hasn’t, but when he tried to open a present on the 11th, The Kidlet grabbed it and took it away saying “it’s not til tomorrow!”

That’s what you get for teaching your kids about the importance of Rules and Control, they end up believing in them :stuck_out_tongue:
SimulETA: glad you’re ok, Cat.

Happy Anniversary to the Vunders!

It’s rainy and dreary here…again. Yesterday was so nice, I even got a little sunburned from working out in the yard. However, by about six yesterday evening, the rain started and hasn’t seemed to let up since.

It’s pretty much supposed to rain the rest of this week.

We went out for drinks and appetizers/dinner with our friends last night. Basically, I ate some quesdilla appetizers as my dinner, while others ordered full on meals. I just wasn’t that hungry. We were supposed to go and see Thor after that, but by the time we were done at the restaurant it was too close to the start time of the movie.

Everyone came back to our house and we hung out here. We were going to go to a later showing, but we never made it. We had a nice time here, just chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

I don’t have any real plans for today; I’m just going do some general tidying and laundry; nothing real ambitious.

Happy 'versaries to the Soapys and the Vunders - I hope there has been a suitable level of celebration going on.

I went to a birthday party last night which was fun, and I have come back still polishing my halo because I drove there and back which means not even a sniff of the lovely cocktails they’d got ready. That’s really all in aid of trying to get back on track at Fat Club this week since I’ve really been off the plan and largely disinterested in the whole diet thing for a few weeks now. I think I need one of Swampy’s motivational speeches!

Aside from that, I had fun yesterday morning at the hospital, I had to go because I woke up with a seriously painful eye and the very look of it told me there was a large ulcer growing. Off to the horsepistol, where the lovely nurse took one look in my poorly peeper and said “oooh…that’s a whopper!” - not the response I was really looking for there. Anyway, I have steroid drops which are helping with the inflammation although it’s still quite painful and very sensitive to light. I also have an appointment at the Acute Referral Clinic at the main eye infirmary for Wednesday morning when the steroid drops run out.

Today I have been largely productive - I have done two loads of laundry, one’s drying outside as it’s finally decided not to rain, and the other’s hanging in the bathroom. I have also cut some grass so I’ve got space to put my veg tubs out, planted out the beetroot and re-potted my purple basil plant. Then I started off two little packs of sweet peppers and chilli peppers from seed so hopefully they will sprout in a few days.

I have to get a grow-bag next week at the garden centre so that I’ve got somewhere to plant the butternut squash seedlings my friend has promised me, and I have also got a list of other things for next Sunday as I’m off to see my doting parent (hence the request for a garden centre trip).

'im indoors is sorting out our airmiles today, he’s bought some extra ones so our next flights will be first class. All we need to do now is work out where to go and when!

Back from breakfast and errands. We decided to try the place down by BBBobbio and it wasn’t bad. Except that they have Pepsi products and I strongly prefer Diet Coke. My omelette was huge and very tasty. **FCD **liked my N.O.T. - there was too much black pepper for me. He got a couple of pancakes that could feed a family of four! Lesson learned - next time, only order one.

After that, we went to Lowe’s, and then I ran into Michael’s and **FCD **went to Staples, both of which are right by Lowe’s. I got 2 more shades of blue yarn - I’m making a large shades-of-blue afghan that’s destined for a veterans’ home. I intended to use up all my blue scraps, but I didn’t have nearly enough, so I’ve bought 3 more double skeins of acrylic worsted. It’s great yarn for afghans.

**FCD **is futzing in the garage and I intend to assume the knit position and watch some TV. I feel lazy today. Daughter is moving more stuff, so the Pug From Hell will be absent again today. Yay!

And that’s about it. C’mon, retirement!!

Good morning, while it’s still morning! I’ve been trying to keep as stress-free as possible, so laying low, in anticipation of the cataract surgery tomorrow. The surgery center -finally- called yesterday afternoon to let me know to arrive by 9:50 AM and the surgery itself is scheduled for 11:20 AM. That is much later than I’d like, but what can I do?! At any rate, everything will go as planned and I’ll be off work for two days (follow-up with the surgeon on Tuesday) and be able to see again with two eyes!

One thing I’m really looking forward to being able to do again is crocheting! I have missed it, and just couldn’t do it as I can’t currently see well enough to make good stitches, if that makes any sense.

I am currently getting ready to go to the grocery store; I’m making a mostly vegetarian lasagna today. laughs I’m putting some bison/buffalo meat in the sauce, but other than that it’s a vegetable lasagna.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday, or what’s left of it, that is.
