Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 69 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high, once again, of 96. Another Summer day here in south Jawja.
doggio well, the empty gift boxes do contain air, I guess.
Ok, gotta have more caffiene and some brekkie. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Good morning from beautiful northern Prince George’s County MD as well. I am caffeinating and have had breakfast of a bowl of mini-wheats. At least it is Wednesday and the middle of the week.
Drove to work today instead of biking, because there was a meeting on my calendar this afternoon. When I opened my mail this morning, the first item was a meeting cancellation.*0.5
I tells ya, the ice cream trucks around here are WEIRD. Not only did they start patrolling when it was still astronomical winter, the one in my 'hood plays Beethoven instead of Turkey In The Straw. :dubious:
That’s right. I am a rabble rouser. A rebel. I won’t back down. Unless, of course, I’m wrong but this time I was not wrong. It started Monday night at Vestry meetin’. I expressed my opinion on some endowment funds and the Vestry’s role in the safeguarding and use of said funds. I argued that we couldn’t use those funds for just anything we want because the purpose of said monies were presented to the Parish as a gift to provide a hedge fund for times when funds may be needed for the upkeep of the church. This means, in essence, if times are hard and we need money to pay bills, do repairs and such this is an emergency fund for such times. YP and Senior Warden thought differently. I used the meeting minutes when the funding idea was approved and the letter sent out to all members of the Parish as proof of my point. I won. Go Me! YP and SW have both emailed and called me to say they now see what I’m sayin’. Right now, times are not hard at least at good ol’ St. Pat’s so that money needs to be left alone. Again, Go Me!
BBBobbio last year we had an ice cream truck that played Broadway show tunes and Christmas Carols. I named it the Bizzaro World ice cream truck. This year we’ve only gotten Turkey In The Straw, so far.
Repeat after me:
This is my certification test. There are many like it but this one is mine. My certification test is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my certification test is useless. Without my certification test I am useless.
NOW HIT THE DECK AND GIVE ME 25 YOU DISGUSTING GRAB-ASSTIC CIVILIAN PUKE!!!
I’m having 2 big water oaks removed today and stumps ground, trunks you can barely reach around and 25 feet tall but lightning got one and I think driveway construction may have hurt the other. They were in serious decline when we bought the place and need to be gone before hurricane season pushes them on someone or thing. I’ve already planted replacements but it’s gonna hurt gettin’ home today and seeing those big ol’ bastards gone. Losing a tree sucks.
Yesterday was fun. Had to replace a leaking water heater at Daughter’s house. That wouldn’t have been so bad, but the floor in the mechanical room was particleboard, and of course it was soaked. We shoveled the particle board out and pulled up the approximately 200 nails that had originally held it down, and then cleaned up the subfloor and checked it for water damage.
If was okay, fortunately, so then we cut a couple of pieces of plywood to go over the subfloor and nailed one down. Then Son-in-law decided that wouldn’t be too great to walk on, so we went and got some cheap vinyl peel-and-stick floor tiles and stuck enough down to put the new water heater in, and got it installed.
I got home in time for Jeopardy, but elected to take a shower instead, 'cause that’s the way I roll.
This morning I replaced the CMOS battery in my little netbook that I bought refurbished last year. I got it all back together and apparently working okay, except for one tiny screw that went zinging across the room into my roving black hole. Fortunately I’m paranoid, and have kept a little plastic box full of screws and connectors from every computer I’ve ever owned.
Yeah I’m fine, my first news were your post! Murcia is the SE corner, I’m at the W edge of the Pyrinees right now.
Quakes of that strength are nothing unusual here, I guess the dead people must have gotten hit by some wall that was already weak or something like that. Will see what the press says later.
Nope, Nava-rra Which is Euskal Herria but not Euskadi… don’t ask your FiL about it unless you’re willing to hear several hours’ worth of excited explanations!
BigBoss was being cranky today, so I discreetly gave the form to Detailed AGM after our staff meeting. He knows how to keep his mouth shut and he’s often said he knows that he’s going to lose me to the schools again. I hope. Now I need to send the other form to my old supervisor at the Awesome Special Collections Job. I see this as an opportunity to catch up on how things are going down there.
Show tunes? How did the West Hippy Hollow ice cream truck end up in Jawja?
And here I thought that you named yourself after a geographic formation. retreats to study corner with Spanish/English dictionary and map of Spain
I’ve been productive. I came home and mowed - it took a bit over an hour. Since we’ve got a bunch of rain coming, I wanted to be sure it didn’t get out of hand. Go me!
Got an email from my mom. She’s treating all of her chillun’s, in-laws, and grands on a cruise in January - 12 days in the southern Caribbean. **FCD **and I plan to go, but daughter can’t afford the time off without pay, plus it’s right after Christmas vacation. So she’ll house sit for us and we’ll pay her. I’ve never been on a cruise, so 12 days is a heckuva first time. Yay for my mom!
Time to scramble some eggs for my sweetie. He’s got a broken tooth and it hurts him to eat real food. I’m not hungry, so it’s easy for me.
Howdy Y’all! Home from Evening Prayer at the church house plus a visit to the horsepistol to check on JDD’s father who is goin’ home tomorrow followin’ rehab after hip surgery. It’s also his birthday. Spendin’ one’s bday in a horsepistol is just sucky IMHO.
Dindin was bbq sammiches and coleslaw. I yanked the bbq out of da freezer last night and made the slaw after irk today. 'Twas good. Tomorow shall be slaw dawgs and fries for dindin cause it’s easy.
I’d be more than happy to go in your daughter’s place? I am nearly family, after all.
I have two crabapples in front of my house that are getting old. One has already lost a major branch and has several small dead branches. But my nephew still loves climbing it, so I refuse to take it down yet. I’m still mulling over what to replace it with. Probably a couple of smaller ornamentals that will be in better proportion to my house. The other one looks like it might last a bit longer, but I’m really not looking forward to losing it either.
Yay for no earthquake in Nava-land!
Good on you for speaking up in the Vestry, swampy. I know our Finance Committee has had to have similar discussions. You’d think it would be horribly obvious…
Yay on getting the recommendation taken care of, Spaz.
I’m tired. I spent most of the day in meetings and then went and severely pruned one of about 8 holly bushes at church. 4 others desperately need pruning and a fifth needs to be trimmed just a bit. Big fun.
Thinking of the people in Spain who were affected by the quakes there, but glad all the same that Nava wasn’t affected. Yay for FCM’s Mom and treating the family to a cruise!
The town I live in has decided to add a community garden to one of the small parks near me; it’s about a block and a half from me and directly across from a Safeway. The other day, they had someone with a little blue tractor plowing up the garden space–in fact, they were still plowing today, so the planting hasn’t even started yet. The first thing I thought of, though, when I saw that little blue tractor was, “Hey, that’s my tractor from Farmville!” Ye gods…and unfortunately I still can’t get the games to work for me. I do miss my farm and tending the animals, though.
I apologize for having a swiss cheese brain lately - I can’t recall things from one minute to the next! At any rate, it’s time to toddle off to bed. At least tomorrow is Thursday and that means almost FIRDAY!
