We interrupt your regularly scheduled MMP to bring you this Early TV Mockumentary

The announcer’s stand was a flatbed semi trailer at one end, and we had all of our gear there. I saw about 80-90% of the show, and actually hung out with one of the rodeo clowns. He was funnier than hell, and had a big ol’ brass pair, because his specialty was distracting the bull after it bucked off the rider. There was another clown who did the comedy bits between events. He did the distractions, too, but not like the guy I hung around with.

Of all the events they did, only the bull riding scared me. The horses knew it was a game throwing off the rider, and even the calves that were roped were in on it. Those bulls where 1500 lbs of pure mean, and they didn’t care. If one of the bull riders got stomped, it was a guaranteed ugly injury. Fortunately, they all got thrown clear, the clowns did their job distracting King Bucksnort, and all we had were a couple of riders who got up real slow.

It is rainy outside and in the high 40s…
…and the building a/c is cranking!

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Good morning, everyone - or should I say good afternoon? I’ve got to start getting out of bed earlier. Great OP, Pie. We always had really old TVs when I was growing up. If our TV died, the way that my parents would acquire a new one was to drive around until they found one on the side of the road, then bring it home to find out if it worked or not. My favorite was an enormous horror from the seventies that had the TV, record player and speakers all in one huge cabinet. After we’d had it a few years, the TV part stopped working, but Mom and Dad decided to keep it for the record player. When they finally brought home a new TV, it was placed on top of the old, non-functioning TV for a few months until Mom got a bug up her ass and rearranged the room.

Hooray for engagements, kewt shirts, old tvs and pie. Boo for teh sick, fires, leaky houses, getting stood up and any other miscellaneous woes I missed. Tupug, what part of Florida is burning now? I haven’t been keeping up with the news lately.

Last week was ridiculously busy, what with finals and all. This week I have absolutely nothing that I have to do, so I’m feeling kind of lost. I’m going to go apply to a sort of temporary staffing place this afternoon so I can make a little extra money before the move. I guess I could start packing and cleaning and organizing and whatnot (I’m moving in two weeks! Ish.) but there’s no fun in doing any of that stuff unless it’s in a great rush at the last possible minute.

LiLi, please make fudge. Actually, make fudge and send it to me. I am currently craving fudge very much.

I will not show The Boy that bacon fudge exists. This is the man who is trying to convince me that bacon ice cream would be the best thing ever to come out of our Donvier, despite my arguments that some things just shouldn’t come in bacon flavour.

Did I mention he’s the Jewish half of the household? :dubious:

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do with 2 cups of cut-up leftover roast chicken? I should use it up for dinner, but I’m feeling uninspired.

chicken tacos?

I like to use leftover chicken in a pseudo-stir fry with lots of veggies. Or you could make chickie pot pie. Or dump a can of gravy over it and serve it on noodles.

I’m about to make a put of chickie soup - I’ve got a carcass that has 1 breast left, so I’m going to cut up the meat and boil the rest. I should do that now - chickie soup would probably make me feel lots better.

**swampy ** - if you don’t check your PMs regularly, you might want to now.

Sounds like another normal day at the rodeo. No matter what the actual score is, the animals always win. Sorta like a Harlem Globetrotters game, but with life-threatening injuries.

The bacon fudge scares me a little actually. I want to try it but I do not want to make it because I don’t know if I’ll like it, and then I’d waste a pan of fudge.

The whole Beltane issue of Anti-craft has to do with bacon. It had only occured to me last night that a new issue would be up…

I do a stirfry with lots of veggies when I have leftover chicken like that. Or you could make chicken fried rice (I keep meaning to make that!).

actually - if the bacon fudge is only bacon-maple, and not bacon-maple-chocolate, it would probably be very tasty - haven’t you ever poured syrup on your bacon or sausage? (altho - I would not like to try sausage fudge - that’s just…ew.)

A rodeo short for bobbio

That’s just it. The addition of chocolate makes it especially weird. If it were just maple and bacon I’d be more willing to attempt it. (I love me some bacon dipped in maple syrup…)

first on 2!
yay me!
::shakes fist at flutterby::

Room for one more?
Great OP, loved the pics.

It typical May/June weather here. The sky looks like cream of elephant soup - gray.
I have to finish the reading the SDMB and drag myself outside and clean my car up.

For the right price…

Welcome the the thread that can’t be hijacked.

We are moved in to our new house. That is, most of our stuff is at the new house and there is some straggling stuff left at the old house- framed pictures, a few lamps, and winter coats and other stuff that goes in a closet and is forgotten about for about 9 months out of the year.

The new house is total chaos. Boxes everywhere. Gah!! I had no idea we had so much crap.

The move went pretty well, however the cats didn’t like the car ride to the new place. One pooped and peed in the car and another one got carsick and urped in the car. Thank goodness that Simple Green got the spots and stink out- GAG!!

I have cooked one “meal” in the house so far. There is only so much you can do with one skillet and 90% of the food still boxed up. Scrambled eggs with my homemade tomatillo salsa and sour cream with tortillas.

We now have assloads of work to do on our old house as we have a renter moving in on the 24th of May. And I still have to paint, order new carpet and get Merry Maids or somebosy in there to do ‘move in’ clean.

Is there anyway to put more hours in a day??

Howdy Y’all! Home to eat me some lunch and make a quick post and catch up. You all are some wordy folks!

YAY for QD and DH. Now we get engagement and weddin’ plannin’ drama. YAY!!!

MOOOOOOM pm checked and replied to.

In other news, I’m headhunted again. The local Habitat for Humanity wants to talk to me about their Director’s position. I forget my resume is floatin’ around the ether. That’s where they found it. So, we’ll talk. Who knows…

Ok, gotta get back to the grind.

Later Y’all!

ETA: Congrats on the move geek and welcome Rick.

Oooh! maybe you;d get to meet Jimmy Carter!!

Welcome, Rick! Always more room!
And exclamation points!

I should eat more lunch. The cake didn’t stick.

Criminy, there’ll be no living with you… :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ll do well here.
